What recorder did you use, out of interest? > Olympus SD 03 (The expensive sneak-in-one) is this for your Stockholm recording? thanks for the info.

Thank you. What recorder did you use, out of interest? Its actually a ZOOM Q3 HD Recorder. We bought it a while back to easily record shows around Halifax. It was the best alternative to spending a small fortune on a new video cam (our other one bit the dust) and a separate recording set up. This thing does both pretty well. I just wish I would have changed the audio settings on the camera before the show. We are so used to recording loud bands, that I didn't take into consideration the quiet vs. loud parts that were sure to peak during a Mogwai set. But, you live and you learn! as noted by other folks earlier, it's a very listenable recording. thank you for posting it.

the cat's cradle in carrboro (chapel hill) has really great sound. they need to keep playing there. uploading the 09 show there plus probably a couple others this week. i _finally_ got my hardware situation sorted out and working properly so i'm back to transferring tapes. i have more than just mogwai stuff i'm transferring so it won't be purely that which i'm doing. www.archive.org/bookmarks/distance may have some other stuff of interest. it's such a relief to have this gear working again. unfortunately i need to go back and retransfer a lot of tapes. i probably have at least 150 tapes to transfer still, but time is something i have a lot of at the moment. looking forward to august. hoping to do philly and dc (but at a minimum dc).

www.archive.org/details/mogwai2009-04-24.ccm4.flac16if the link's not active yet, it should be soon. i think this is one of my better mogwai recordings. hopefully more this week. and as i'm posting this i realized that i completely fucked up the path when i created the item. edit: they fixed the link for me (i was not able to edit it) and i've updated the proper link in the post now.

yeah i had forgotten how good it sounds there sometimes.. makes me want to go to more shows there/see them there again.. unfortunately where i'm living right now, if i don't get a hotel after the show and try to drive back, i'll get home at 5am since every show seems to let out at 1am.
when i listened i was like 'why don't i remember this sounding this good?' i just transferred the show from dc from august later that year and it did not sound as good, even though i feel like the 930 has good sound. well.. hopefully another shot at a good 930 recording in august.
... i wasn't happy with my 03 930 recording either. hmm

interesting that all the people commenting on the brightlight gig page talk about how loud this gig was...i wonder if that was deliberate with the 2001 paris debacle, or mere coincidence....

On Thursday, Couleur3 from Romandy / Switzerland aired a partial set from Milan 2011 (Alcatraz, 2011-03-10) as a part of their summer programme. As expected, they butchered some of the songs (e.g. Xmas Steps, MFS, Batcat) pretty badly. Most of Couleur3's live recordings were by courtesy of other EBU (European Broadcasting Union) member stations. Any idea if the set has already been broadcast on any other radio station (e.g. RAI RadioUno or RAI Radio2) or if it has been scheduled for future broadcasts on other EBU member stations? www.rsr.ch/#/couleur3/programmes/live-act/?date=28-07-2011www.youngteam.co.uk/brightlight/eng/gig100311.phpWhite Noise Death Rays How to be a werewolf Killing all the Flies Auto Rock Xmas Steps (edit) Rano Pano New Paths to Helicon pt. 1 Mexican Grand Prix Mogwai Fear Satan (edit) Batcat (edit)

Does anyone know anywhere online to download the set Mogwai did at Hyde Park in 2002. I seem to remember a few sites had it at the time but can't find anywhere to get it from.
Any help gratefully received
Andy

That is my first Mogwai show ever. A shame the station butchered some songs and left some off, but still.... Any word on where to obtain this?

I'm sure it must have been recorded as The Cure seem to attract their fair share of tapers.

Addendum: The Milan recording is also going to be rebroadcast on P3 (Sweden) on 16.08.2011. As far as I remember P3 used to be a very decent radio station, so here's hoping for an "unbutchered" version of the set.
Tisdag 16 augusti - en timme med skotska MOGWAI. Dynamiskt, svävande, mangel och melodi... Tidlöst, storslaget och känsligt. Inspelat i Milano i mars.
