colston hall bristol 26th september invada invasion thing. Mogwai confirmed. squeeryj is going to be as mad as a hatter when he reads this. it's a big bill, that, and it doesn't start til 6pm. i would guess mogwai will be playing a festival-length set. crippled black phoenix also on the bill. www.colstonhall.org/boxoffice/whatson/Event903i wonder whether they have any more uk dates up their sleeves?

Presumably ATP can be announced now too?
I will BBQ my balls if they don't play one of those.

Colston Hall? Fucking great venue- home city too. Devastated I can't make this. Any other weekend would have been fine! Anyone that get's to this is one lucky bastard!

Booked tickets to the Colston Hall gig as soon as I saw Mogwai were playing. Was tempted by the lineup a while ago and can't really say no to it now. Just need to find somewhere to stay and I'm all set. The lineup does look pretty big so far, is it a late night thing or lots of bands in different rooms?
I'm also assuming they'll also announce for ATP as well, but unlike squeeryj I'll only eat my hat if they don't. Much more pleasant, especially as my hat is made of fruit and more to the point December is a silly time of year to have a BBQ.

Thats going to really hurt. SB It would be very easy to interpret this as 'we're not playing' - note the use of the words 'going to' rather than 'would'

Maybe SB was making an assumption that I'm not going to actually do it?
Well all I want to say is, keep your eyes on Youtube Stuart.

Got my ticket for Invada! Anyone know what Bristol's night time habits are like? Need to fill the void before my 7.30am train.

Likewise, wouldn't mind knowing where to go if Invada is so much fun that I don't want to stop having it. Looking more for a late night pub type bar that stays open all night, has really cheap drinks and good music rather than an overpriced nightclub.

There are a few late night places that aren't clubs, but marrying that with good music too might be tricky. One good shout is a place called The Woods, just off Park Street. Has a 5 or 6am licence, doesn't play shit dance music about asses, and the people in there are pretty cool, if a bit studenty.
Will rack my brain for some others.

Actually, what time does it go on to? It's a 6pm start, but I'm not sure it will be super late. Anyone have any ideas. If it is an 11 or 12 finish I can come up with a load more places that have 2am licences.
Either that, or all back to mine!*
SQJ
*this is definitely not happening.

Having now actually read the poster I see it is a 2am finish. Hmmm. If Mogwai are playing til 2am, I might have to look into booking a hotel rather than driving back to Birmingham.

Set times haven't been released yet. I hope Mogwai aren't on til 2am as I need to get back to mine after, about 30 from Bristol.

Great stuff. I booked a hotel already - the ticket and trains were so cheap I thought it was worth a bit of a self-indulgent evening out of town! I've no complaints with the late time. Great, in fact. After loving them at Field Day, and noting the only complaint was that it should have been that tiny bit louder, I'm excited to be seeing them again so soon. Especially as ATP is now in doubt.
Gonga, Zu, Fuck Buttons - BRILLIANT.
Is it me, or has Mogwai just released the best album of the band's career so far, and are in fact at the very height of their powers as a live band? Really.

Although they've been a consistently great live band for many years, as we all know. I can certainly see how 'The Hawk Is Howling' could be viewed as Mogwai's best album. It'd be good to see some of the other four tracks played live.

There are so many decent live sets knocking around, and I've listened to the Young Team re-rerlease a lot. But I realised last night that it was 6 months since I'd listened to the Hawk. I still don't think that the running order works - and maybe Batcat should have stayed a single. But musically, I'd agree that this is some of their best work - agreed that it would be nice if the tracks that haven't as yet been played live could get an airing.

Anyone seen a setlist for the last 'Hawk' show in Zaragoza last night? 7 missing/incomplete setlists out of 133 shows since April 2008 ain't bad. It'd be good to reduce it to 6.

I don't know if any Mogwai songs from FIZ were broadcast but the official FIZ web site has an announcement that some of the concerts will be aired later (thus giving the fans the chance to "relive the festival").
