Ah, well that will cheer up another depressing Valentine's day then! At least this year I'll be alone with a new Mogwai record!

I think it's an awful title but I'm really looking forward to the album.

Are there, or will there be, any plans for a single release around Christmas / New Year time?

The title is theirs "This is my truth tell me yours". ...but funny instead of vomit-inducing.

not sure about the album title yet and the Lionel Richie reference caused a smirk do we know how long this LP will be?

*Sigh* I'm expecting a suitably naff album cover again to go with the daft title. Oh well, it's all very 'anti-cool' isn't it?
New album though!!! Can the band do another warmup gig at the Queen Elizabeth Hall too?

Let's just all focus on the songs rather than debating on if the album title is shite or not.

Well we haven't heard the songs bar the two live 'uns and this thread is in response to the names of the album and tracks being released so I think it's perfectly reasonable to discuss that here. There's already a thread on the "New Tracks For New Album" too. And of course the titles don't really matter but it's still exciting to find out what they are and how funny/shit they are this time... I'm sure the band won't be too offended. I sometimes think they try their hardest to make them a bit shit, hence my "anti-cool" comment. My guess for the album cover would be a naked girl draped over a motorbike or something like that. Actually, we should start a thread on album covers, titles and song title favourites...

All the covers have always been shit (Young team was ok). EP+6 was probably the best one as well as Special Moves. Just the one that responded visually to the music... We all know how brilliant the content is but the artwork always has been dispirating... I don't mind shitty titles and tracks, but I just think that taking the piss visually DOESN'T work at all.
Now when I'm looking at the Remember Remember artwork or the last Part Chimp, I just want to cry or throw up. It's dreadful. I'm really hoping that they won't go for something like that.
I suggest to spray paint HARDCORE WILL NEVER DIE, BUT YOU WILL on some cows in a field. Hey what about having the 5 gwai's standing still (weezer style), dressed up like some old 80's 'hair/metal/glam/hard rock/band'.......?

There was once a picture taken in 1999/2000 where Mogwai parodied Oasis. It's kind of hard to describe but since there was/is five members in each band they all imitated what Oasis looked/did on that pic. It was obviously not an album cover but I wonder if anyone has a link of that pic, it's really funny.

I've got a physical copy but not electronic. I really like the artwork for the last Part Chimp record, and the Remember Remember art is fine too, but I know nothing about art.

I had no idea John and Barry didn't live in Scotland. I always assumed the band all lived in the same street. This news makes me less confident that Mogwai will be together for years to come.

If you love making music with certain people, you'll do it... I don't care if the guys write their songs via email, Hell, I write songs via email with my friend down the road. As long as when your done writing, you can get together to play it live for your fans and still love to do it... it makes no difference where you live. Mogwai will be around for a few more years, I figure, they have too much music and creativity left in them to just stop.
I can't wait for this new record!!

"the actual album which sounds like New Order pop songs."
Hah! New Order when they were world-beatingly fantastic maybe. Not that Get Ready or Waiting For The Sirens Call rubbish. Somewhere between Low-Life and Technique then.
"I think you are a pig You should be in a zoo"
Can't wait for Dominic's hip-thrusting bass god act. Martin does a passable Stephen Morris already. Stuart as Barney? Yep, I can see that. Barry as Gillian?

Wow what a nice Valentine's day present from me to myself (if it comes out here then)! I LOL'ed at 'You're Lionel Ritchie'. Mega Album 7 would have been so awesome. The sillier the better I say.
So if The Singing Mountain is the 'polar opposite' to New Order pop songs does that mean it sounds like Joy Division? Noice. Btw I can see Barry as Gillian Gilbert. Any woman really.

I wonder whether we're likely to see a single/EP release prior to the album.. Am so impatient to hear these songs On January 18, Sub Pop will release that song as a 7" single, with non-album track "Hasenheide" as the B-side. Instantly love this song
