Next time I need to hear Xmas steps though PLEASE tell me you weren't the yob shouting for that song all night long. Couldn't make it to the Pontiac show tonight, unfortunately. A little bit sad about that now, but I have a feeling when I see the setlist it's going to really twist the knife in my proverbial groin area. Really wanted to see 'Stop Coming To My House' and 'Stanley Kubrick' in Toronto. But can't complain, the setlist was very good. I was right next to the guy that kept yelling out for Xmas steps between songs. He yelled out during one song and Stewert told him to shut up. He was pretty pissed off about this. He started to get agitated near the end of the show, and I moved my girlfriend out of the way of him because I did not trust him. He started yelling again, and the two other guys next to me kept reminding him to not yell out cuz the band asked him. By the end of the show, during Batcat, he snapped, sucker punched the two guys that told him to stop yelling, and he tried to run. Those two guys took him down, and people got knocked around. This guy threw some more punches and elbowed his way through me, and a bunch of my female friends, and sprinted out the exits. This guy was a real prick. I really wish that Xmas Steps was played after this coward ran out the door, that would have been so perfect haha. Anyway, fuck that guy. Leave your meat head mentality at home.

Anyone getting any photos/vids/updates from the festivals the band have been playing? I'd love to see some stuff from Green Man!

So that's it - Tilburg was Mogwai's last show of 2012, and Stuart's already indicating to folks on Twitter that the next time Mogwai play, for example, New York, will be in 2014.

2014... that makes me sad... though the fact that the absence will bring news stuff makes it easier to bear.

Still, there's the album of remixes to look forward to this year. And I'm hoping the deluxe CODY will see light of day in 2013. So they're going to be pretty busy, even if they don't record any new music for a while.

And there's me thinking they would have been too knackered after all that touring!!

Well, when you love what you do, it's a bit easier to get yourself out of bed in the morning and just keep on trucking.
I am pretty stoked on the remix album. The last one wasn't really up my alley, so I am quite interested to see what they have going on this time around.
And as someone who has a decent sized CODY tattoo on her back, it would be a lie to say that it would make my year to see the CODY re release happen in 2013.
All kinds of good things to look forward to, until they hit the road again.

The recent studio work has been for a French TV show. I know nothing beyond that but it wouldn't surprise me that the re-recording is part of the TV deal.

From Das Gift's Facebook feed... After a long long long tour which lasted pretty much two years, Mogwai have been nominated for a UK Festival Award for their performance at Green Man festival in Wales. Anybody who wishes to vote for them in the Best Headline Performance category can do so here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/ukfa2012Thanks!

Apparently Stuart played a solo show in Glasgow last week - Leonard Cohen songs on the banjo? - anyone know any more?

I caught half of it and I know there are 5 individual videos on the bonnaroo channel... but did any body happen to record the video of the full bonnaroo set? would love to get my hands on it. thanks. Sorry... I'm drudging this up again... but this was a quality set/recording and I'd really like the version of Ex-Cowboy they played... wish I would have had the foresight to record it... anyone have it?
