metropolis is pretty nice. only been there once, though. i'll likely do charlotte and dc. always love shows @ 930. looks like i can do both of those without having to take any vacation time. looks like i now have a time frame for buying a new recorder. i'm out of DATs.

[quote author=" rob strong" source="/post/16196/thread" timestamp="1383595245" And Shaky Knees Festival (Atlanta) in early May? This allows me to breathe a sigh of relief and now that I think about it... I believe i heard this somewhere else as well.[/quote] This is educated guesswork, nothing more - but there's an Atlanta-sized hole in the tour dates in early May.

[quote source="/post/16200/thread" timestamp="1383622432" This is educated guesswork, nothing more - but there's an Atlanta-sized hole in the tour dates in early May. The other source I mentioned is fairly reliable... but they spoke of it as mostly a "good possibility" at the time.

Just noticed they've got two dates at Ancienne Belgique. Don't they normally stream gigs live? Nothing to note this on the website yet (very nice website it is, too!).

Just noticed they've got two dates at Ancienne Belgique. Don't they normally stream gigs live? Yes, sometimes AB do broadcast live concerts (via "ABtv") - but there's no general rule to it. It probably depends on whether or not they've managed to obtain the right-holder's / record company's consent. Apart from that, the audio / video quality of the HWNDBYW era stream was abysmal... It has been archived on their website, though: www.abconcerts.be/nl/abtv/p/filter/mogwaiI will attend the first night but, unfortunately, I won't make it to the second gig.

So I guess shaky knees got pushed back a week and the promoter decided to book a headlining show for Mogwai - works for me.

Definitely jealous! My rate of seeing these guys live is about once every two years. Not complaining though, at one point I figured I'd never see them. So... it's all good.
Better see lots of photos on instagram!!

I have to say I'm disappointed there's no (mainland) China show. I guess it's understandable thats it not really going to be top of the list of places to play but I missed the show in Shanghai last time round as I had already booked flights in order to catch the show in Korea. Although that show was good, all I could think the whole time was the tweet the band had sent saying the China date was probably one of the best on the tour. Gutted.

"What can we expect from your upcoming live shows? Are you going to play plenty of older material? Will it all be as loud as ever?
Aye. We usually play for a long time now - you know, long sets - and we’ve got so many songs to choose from. It’s quite nice; we’ve been out on tour with bands that play the exact same set every night, and I couldn’t imagine doing that. It’s probably what you’re meant to do, but I find that even just changing the order up helps you out on a long tour. So, there’s not going to be fireworks. We’re just going out to play some music to people who probably rarely get out of their bedrooms. That wasn’t a very nice thing to say, was it? "

It's true... I don't get out of the house much. My last 2 concerts have been Mogwai 2009 & Mogwai 2011. Wow, I need to get out more often! Barry seems to know his fan base... At least this fan?

I think it's pretty accurate. I am actually out to a lot of concerts, though each Mogwai tour is pretty much the only time I am guaranteed to leave the province to attend one.
I appreciate that they still tour as much as they do. They have lives outside of the band and I realise it's hard to leave home for extended periods of time. So as long as they continue to sacrifice their time to bringing us fantastic music, you'll always see me out there supporting when and where I can!
Ps. Congrats on the little one Dominic!

I'm looking forward to seeing the new songs played live, and hoping for some different oldies.
Although I'd love to see them play Mogwai Fear Satan again, obviously.
I wonder whether we'll get any Les Revenants tracks. That'd be good too.

As for different oldies.. I'll always keep my fingers crossed to hear Summer. *wink* *nudge*

I would love to hear Wizard Motor live, or any revenants ones actually. I like to go against the grain by being one of the strange people dancing to Mogwai, though that's going to be hard at the seated gigs :/ (If GMS could be saved for the Usher Hall one I'd appreciate it, for that reason)
It's not so much bedroom music in our house, as 'sitting round eating pizza with the kids at teatime' - I love that it's just standard in our house, they take it in their stride and hum along, occasionally asking why the songs don't have words ;-) Holding out against them getting into one direction or some such shite pop for as long as possible.

It seems like every show I've seen was around the 90 minute mark - too short for the depth of their catalog now!

Sitting down for gigs is absolute shite.
Having said that, am incredibly excited for the Manchester gig a week Monday. Bridgewater Hall is a little bit more plush than Planet K where I first saw Mogwai play in Manchester 2001 touring RA.
Helluva night that was.

Bridgewater Hall is a little bit more plush than Planet K where I first saw Mogwai play in Manchester 2001 touring RA. Helluva night that was. Best Mogwai gig I've been to was sitting at Queen Elizabeth Hall. Apart from anything else, I think seated audiences are more likely to shut up and listen to the music rather than chat throughout. Really looking forward to next Friday now. Assume I won't be the only person from here with a front row seat? If I can't find my BL badge, look out for a big bearded bloke in a green jacket and a Blur are shite t-shirt, and say Hi.
