I scored a Sunday ticket fer the Barras (can't make Sat - gutted). I have high hopes for these dates. I'm sure the boys will not disappoint.

Booked my flights from Toronto for the Glasgow gigs. Included a 24hr stopover in Iceland on the return flight. That should be an epic weekend!

So with these being 20 year anniversary gigs, for the boys to play the same-ish songs as they've been playing recently would be a little disappointing. Anniversary gigs implies that there'll be some new, well really I mean old tunes bought out of the cupboard....
Leading on from that, I think they should practice a few when I see them in New Zealand in a month..... Last time I saw them in Australia in 2009 they played almost identical setlists on the 2 nights I saw (I shouldn't have skipped a date in the middle as they changed it up significantly for that one). And as I know that Stuart (and others) read this forum, I thought I'd get my requests in early for some different tunes to be played at the Wellington and Auckland shows - I'm sure there will be a fair few other fans attending both like I will be....
Songs which would get me rather excited would be: Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home You Don't Know Jesus My Father My King Helicon 1 Ratts of the Capital Death Rays Ithica Fear Satan Ex-Cowboy Helicon 2 I Know You Are But What Am I Batcat Remurdered Like Herod We're No Here so those 15 songs spread over the 2 gigs with a smattering of the other regulars should be sufficient. Thanks lads!

You've surely got a decent shot of many of those? Remurdered, Batcat, Helicon 1, Fear Satan for starters.
I reckon the least likely from that list would probably be Death Rays. Which is a shame.

Death Rays is one of my favourites I have to say, there's a bit makes me go all tingly nearly every time I listen to it I would be very happy to hear mega snake in Glasgow (daft that not witnessed a live version yet) and I would be ecstatic to hear no medicine for regret (if I keep banging on about it you never know.... )

I suspect we will get to hear many older or less frequently/never played tunes - but requests are likely to be just as futile as they have always been

It would be great to see the setlists as varied as they were for the ICA shows at the start of 2006 - 33 songs over 5 shows - and obviously there's a considerably larger back catalogue to go at now.
I'm hoping I'm going to regret not having booked for any of them.

Rob - bad timing for you? Midweek away gigs in London were far easier ten years ago, put it like that. Midweek nights staying away are a non-starter during term time. Likewise Glasgow on a Sunday. The last train back to Birmingham is 23:40, so we'd likely have to leave the Roundhouse shows before the end. RFH last year was an early curfew so easy to get back to Euston. The only one of the four I could realistically do would have been the first Glasgow show, and that'd sold out before I got time to look at booking. Prolapse are playing a full show in Nottingham on Friday 19th June, and I haven't seen them for 16 years. The days of Mogwai playing in the Midlands regularly seem to be long gone, sadly.

I made the last Birmingham train easily from the Manics Holy Bible Roundhouse show just before Xmas. The Roundhouse is only 2 minutes from Chalk Farm tube, and then to Euston is only a 10 minute journey. The train is 23.30, not 23.40 though, so it's still a little tight if you leave dead on 11!

Great place, one of my favourite big venues. The sound is superb as long as you don't go too far to the edges (being circular, that's quite easy). The bars are never too crowded and at the Manics show there was a proper real ale bar as well. At the last show I went to in the summer there was a barbecue on the outside terrace!
Quite a few decent pubs nearby too, including one right across the road.

My list certainly wasn't entirely obscure. But I made sure I added a few lefties in there! And I don't know what happened to death rays - an absolutely killer track. Bring Back Death Rays!

I have a fair few I'm hoping for (MFMK, Small children in the background, Superheroes etc) but to be honest both Glasgow shows will be fantastic either way....though if they get Aidan Moffat and Gruff Rhys up that'd be magic

I saw Stuart making song requests on twitter to Sleater Kinney like a total keener, so as far as I'm concerned all bets are off for 20th show requests - fair is fair!

I presume more badges would be a good idea. Ben, are you still around? Hello! Been away from here for a while. Up for doing more badges. Rob - if your email is still the same, I'll drop you a line or DM you on here. Will also be at the 2nd Roundhouse date, although tempted to do the other night too.
