It's a decent enough song, not sure if it's the single? Feels more like track 1. But that name - Ugh

Pre-ordered the vinyl already! Was on the fence about the box set but $50 plus shipping was a bit much for me.

I've ordered the box set before viewing this thread today, so didn't know about the 7" in the US edition. Are there plans to make this available elsewhere?
Glad this is now announced, though, and that the first track sounds so good.

It's a grower, and the end part is indeed magnificent as MAH likes to say. Wonder what the surprise show is that Stuart mentioned in the interview.

New track is so so good, I'm really excited about this LP. Really like the way it sounds and the song is able to breathe.
Also the MAH interview is worth listening too, Stuart opens up a bit about John leaving and how it re-galvanised the 4 as they worked out individually if they wanted to carry on. Also it sounds like Coolverine was born out of the BTF sessions, which makes a lot of sense. This new tracks sounds like Rock Action mixed with their more recent soundtrack adventures...
Top effort lads, I've been critical of the past few albums (RT especially) but this is great, and has a lot of promise as an opener

I'm holding off on ordering the boxset until I hear more about this Party in the dark 7"....if its getting a separate European release I'll happily buy it too (Craig, Stuart if you are reading this, any insight?).
The track is great...there hasn't been an album I don't like but it's been a while since their stuff has sounded 'live' in the room which I'm really digging hearing again.

no mate...this is completely not impressive. Sounds like god is an austronaut...track. im still love mogwai for their soundtracks (les revenants, atomic and before the flood), but Rt and this track are don't say anything to me. Im hoping for the rest of lp...

Yeah definitely a grower, getting excited about this now, loving Dominic's bass to the fore in the mix when it kicks off, and the "room" sound of the drums. For me it's all about continual evolution with Mogwai Albums, they continue to develop and explore different territory, no standing still or revisiting past glories - I like that. Slightly miffed that the US Box set has an extra 7", hoping it will be available in some form in the UK. Need to decide on which boxset to get, the Music glue one or from Monorail (Opaque White Vinyl)....mmmm decisions

Monorail vinyl is the indies-only white vinyl so not exclusive, just the signed postcard. Musicglue has signed screen print.

I Like! ...... the more I listen to Coolverine, the more I think it will be a great show opener, that bass in the second half will be something else live.

Coolverine has grown on me on a few more listens.....except the drum-echo bit about 3mins in. Just can't get over that bit, sorry.

Played Party in the Dark a few times from the link. Absolutely loved it.
Howevs, don't know if someone who slotted it into the radio station playlist jumped the gun, but that segment seems to have been removed.
Or it could be me being thick. 50/50.
