Apologies if this has been discussed before, however at your last Bristol show (Colston Hall) I was having a great time. Did you guys somehow manage to create the effect of purple bats flying around with the light show, or was that me having a really great time? My mate saw them too, but he was having the same great time I was!
If so, great effects, I thought they were going to get stuck in my hair!
Cheers
James

Is it your own (Stuart) solo material you'll be playing at the Natty Brooker Art Exhibition or what exactly will you be doing at it?

Yeah, that's the night, great all round it was too. It was a serious question, I am quite ignorant on lighting shows, however to me it looked like the purple strobe light was making images of bats, which only really showed when the white strobe came on. I'm guessing by the lack of responses not too many other people saw it. Me and my imagination!
Cheers all

Stuart, did you know that your surname is of Scandinavian origins? "Thwaite" in Old Norse means "an isolated piece of land", and there is also a village in Cumbria named "Braithwaite", probably conquered or established by the Danes. I was studying for my History of the English Language exam and found it remarkably interesting.

Does the "hidden" track after "Black Spider 2" have a title?

i only ever write here when i'm drunk, sorry about that, but i've got a few questions so here goes:
1% of monster: who's idea? who's playing on it? how come it's so great? how come it isn't played live?
king's meadow: ever considered playing this with drums+bass+distorted guitars, as in a "heavy version"? i hear it in my head every time i listen to it. i'm not saying i would prefer it that way, it's a great song, but the bug in my brain keeps demanding it.
the sun smells too loud: i love the way some of your songs have transformed over the years, when you play them live, like helicon 1 and mogwai fear satan and possibly a few others.. i'd love for the sun smells too loud to get the same treatment, any chance of that happening? just guitars and bass and drums and well maybe some keyboards.. it'd be the perfect intro in a way.. get the crowd dancing and then (maybe?) blast them in the face with the noise-facefuck that is Ithica 27-9.
St. Vincent: Anyone a fan? Saw her solo a while ago. Awesome with the guitar.

Stuart & co...
Will "Special Moves" be the first Mogwai album to be released under your own Rock Action label? If so, who will be distributing it?

Ten Rapid was the first Mogwai album on Rock Action, if that counts? You're right I forgot that one. I'm generally interested in if Mogwai releases their albums on their own label. And how accessible the albums will be in records shops etc. RA is a small but upcoming label but also probably needs a distributor. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I've never come across any problems with availability of RA releases in thge UK, but I can't comment beyond that. Presumably a band of Mogwai's size aren't going to struggle to get a distribution deal for their own releases or their label.

Special Moves will be available in shops. Rock Action has always had a distributor. Its PIAS (formerly known as Vital) right now and was previously SRD. Any difficulty in finding our previous releases will be down to the shops not ordering them. Just bug the shops to get them in if they don't have them. They'll appreciate the business these days! SB

I once read somewhere about a potential album cover for Rock Action, which was a photo of all the band's effects pedals lined up. Will this photo ever see the light of day?

There was talk of us going on Jools Holland when Mr Beast was out but our schedule didn't allow it. I think Aidan might be working on something but you'd need to ask him really. SB

Stuart - Do you think the Icelandic volcano incident is going to lead to all sorts of documentaries using slow-mo footage of plumes of smoke and lava, soundtracked by Mogwai songs?
I think it will.
