hehe - I am a little excited by talk of it by Mogwai on this site and others. I haven't seen the Chimp for too long - not only I am looking forward to the record but really wanna see them play in London again SOON.

Having seen them 2-3 times last year and heard quite a few of the new songs, I can pretty much guarantee its going to rock with large balls attached.

Good gig on friday - the new Todd material sound great, shame their singer decided to get shitfaced before playing and ran amok, dislocating some poor guys shoulder in the process. But hey! Rock and Roll! Chimp were their usual loud selves, played mostly new material. Only one of the new tunes sounded a bit flat - maybe too much like Dr Horse from I.A.C but not quite as good. But the rest all sounded great. Kind of gave me the sensation of having my brain being polished with a brillo pad. Was quite wasted by the end of the night so don't recall too many more specifics. Hopefully get a full tour when the album emerges.

Sounded like a dandy gig indeed.
My mama used to say: "If your balls don't come out of your eyes, polish your brain with a brillo pad....."
Mrs Gump didn't have shit on my Ma!

The Lexington gig the other month back was fantastic. We did suffer in our hearings a little the next day, but what do you expect? The new stuff sounded ace.
21st September for the album! Jees. I can't believe I was posting about my excitement about this record back in February. I think my mind is about to fall out from waiting.
Its still. Still. A great title.

Yup, really looking forward to this. I get the feeling there might be some "interest" purely because of the album's title, but the band settled on calling it "Thriller" a fair while ago. It's a pity that there's bound to be some wrong-end-of-the-stick grabbing idiots, though.

There is a competition with Mogwai for the worst artwork ever made for an album . Do we have to take it seriously or it's ironic? haha. The content is usually great though so...

Loving the artwork actually.
Sadly I don't think many people will notice the title because not many people will notice the release. If the Chimp were a US band they'd sell many, many more records.
I love the audacity of liking a title for a record and not even minding that its the same as the best selling album of all time. The two records are so poles apart that you could be hard pressed to even make a connection. Or that might have been true a month ago. Hehe.

C'mon, its a dude wearing a jet powered space suit firing a lazer at a gaggle of zombies. Whats not to like? BTW im not sure 'gaggle' is the correct plural for zombies, but it should be.

I've gone and pre-ordered the album. Best cover art of the year I reckon.
I'll also be there when the UK tour kicks off in Folkestone in a couple of weeks.

Just seen a listing for a Part Chimp show in Birmimgham on 24th Sept. Please let this be true! First visit to the Midlands by the Chimp, as far as I'm aware?
Last time they were here, it was as Ligament, to play a couple of support slots at very poorly attended shows in the mid-90s.

Can't get over just how damn brilliant this album is. Played it straight through three times today, and that's the first time that has happened in years.

Yeah I got a copy at the Folkestone show.
I can't remember all the details of it, but it has 17 tracks from the entire life of the band, so it features all three bass players they've had. It's not in chronological order, which is fine, and it's around the 75 minute mark.
Sound quality is pretty good on the whole, so i would say it's well worth the fiver.
I'll post the entry I made on rateyourmusic.com as soon as that site is repaired.
Tracks: 1. Ex-Ladyboy 2. Bring Back The Sound 3. B2 4. New Cross 5. Cover Me 6. Dark Entries 7. War Machine 8. Dr. Horse 9. Do You Believe In Waiting To Die 10. Starpiss 11. Hello Bastards 12. Once More Forever 13. Punishment Ride 14. Iron Pond 15. Chimp Happy 16. Hitlers And Jews 17. B1
As for an EP featuring "Trad" (which is an astonishing song, by the way), I've read about this online before, and thought I saw an RA catalogue number for it. So I'm guessing it might be around before the end of the year.

Sorry guys, I couldn't see the flickr links when I wrote my last post at work, so didn't know you could see the tracklisting for yourself. Will try and post the other info you can't make out soon.
