I've no idea whether the new album is any good, but the first one was decent. A sensible release strategy, anyway: thelongcut.melodic.co.uk/

erm a bit delayed of a post but i have to say the longcut are an amazing band especially live, recall seeing and meeting them at king tuts glasgow back in 07. really nice people too. their latest album open hearts was in my opinion one of the highlights of 2009.

I found 2009 quite disappointing musically, although I thought the Super Furry Animals made their best album in 10 years, and the Fuck Buttons 2nd album was amazing. Didn't get The Longcut album until December, am still loving it now, the title track is a highlight, me and my 17 month old daughter dance around in the kitchen to it.
In the 5 weeks we've had this year, there are already more good albums out than the whole of last year, albums I found anyway!

There were a handful of interesting releases. manics journal for plague lovers, the horrors primary colours, we were promised jetpacks, de rosa (think thats more of late 08 ?), the cribs ignore the ignorant and umm yeah yeah yeahs I absolutely love the *new* longcut album its a cult classic in my opinion, evil dance, the title track and the opener are massive tunes with great club potential. I also liked how they released the album couple of months in advance through flac/high quality mp3 download complete with artwork. First time I saw them live was back at london astoria 05 supporting the music, havent looked back since.

Over 2 years since anyone has posted on this subject! But to celebrate the near completed new Longcut album, come check them out this Sunday, 26th Feb, at Mama Liz's Voodoo Lounge. Know it's a Sunday, but it won't be a late one, unless you want it to be! Cheers all James
