My home City, Birmingham, doesn't enjoy the best of reputations for its architecture. It's getting better. There's an exhibition running at the moment (which I haven't seen yet, and must do as soon as possible) of previously-unseen timelapse photographs of the modernisation/destruction of the city centre in the 1960s. One of the time-lapse sequences is linked from the excellent Created in Birmingham blog: www.createdinbirmingham.com/2009/10/31/derek-fairbrother-birmingham-timelapse/The film's only a minute long, incredible as a local to watch the previous stunning brick buildings being casually dismantled and replaced by ugly soul-destroying concrete nightmares.

Yeah, that's progress.
Cannot believe all that happened in such a short period of time.
