Julien Temple's 'Reqiuem For Detroit' (BBC2 this evening) was the best thing I've seen on TV in months. There's some background info on the film in this Guardian piece: www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/mar/10/detroit-motor-city-urban-declineAstounding to see a major industrialised city returning to nature on such a scale, and to hear that the biggest growth industry in the city centre is farming. Great music too, Motown/White Stripes/Richie Hawtin/Iggy/MC5 etc I'd highly recommend anyone who missed it to catch it whilst it's on the iPlayer.

based on your recommendation rob, i downloaded this a few weeks back. finally got round to watching it last night and it was indeed very interesting. very compelling in a depressing kinda way. sounds like a fascinating place to go visit if you were into that kind of thing....
the music was great - don't BBC have some arrangement which allows them to use any music they want on their shows for a (small) set royalty fee? and this is why when they release their documentaries on dvd they have to use different soundtracks cause the agreement doesn't include dvd releases?
