Isis announced a couple of days that they are to split.
I know they played on a Mogwai-curated ATP a few years back, so I'm wondering if anyone else appreciated them.
I've got two or three of their albums, and really like "Panopticon". "Oceanic" is good too, but I wasn't quite sold on the other tracks I heard.

well, i kinda worshipped them, i always liked the way they took post rock elements, blended them with hardcore, and in a way took the sound of neurosis in a different level... the thing is, oceanic & panopticon had some brilliant ideas and a perfect balance of music/vocals. they seemed to loose this balance in their two last albums, which, although great, they are not to be compared with the previous two. in a (sad) way im relieved that they split, believing that they lost their "touch" in making great music. to be honest though, the worst isis album is by far greater than any other release in this "post metal" genre. ill miss them.

i was a big fan of oceanic and panopticon. saw them at the mogwai atp and a couple other times. i lost interest in their music after panopticon - they started sounding to me like tool-wannabees which i did not like at all. not sad they've split, as i know i'll always have their 2 great albums...

i've heard the guitartist's other band, red sparrowes, is quite good. haven't had a chance to see or hear them yet though.
