A Sheffield date would be superb. I'd guess either Cambridge or Norwich will be done, if more nights are to be announced.

I'm delighted that they continue to choose to play in Edinburgh. But I don't understand why they don't play in Glasgow more often? Does the guest list get too big?

Looking at those dates, there aren't many blank days. A day between Bournemouth and Bristol. Cardiff at a push? And one between Edinburgh and Oxford - don't expect anything else in there. Sadly, I think this will be your lot. Brixton's the only date in the South East (and nothing in the East or East Midlands), but even more than Hammersmith, I don't think of it as a particularly good venue to see a band like Mogwai - the audience chatter's likely to be unbearable. A Cambridge or Leicester date would be welcome.

in the email i got, my list includes a cardiff date on the 18th, and gateshead date on the 27th. just thought i'd mention as they're not on rob's list.
17.02.11 Bournemouth O2 Academy 18.02.11 Cardiff University 19.02.11 Bristol O2 Academy 20.02.11 Leeds O2 Academy 21.02.11 Edinburgh Picture House 23.02.11 The Regal, Oxford 24.02.11 Birmingham Institute 25.02.11 Brixton O2 Academy 26.02.11 Manchester Academy 27.02.11 The Sage Gateshead
i saw quite a few gigs at the brixton academy during my time in london and i thought it was a very good venue. not as good as the astoria, but better than the hammersmith apollo..

OK; I was right on Cardiff, and there's a Gateshead date too. But it's not the most exciting set of venues. e.g. no Brighton, Leicester or Cambridge.

Good to see them back in Bristol so soon, excellent stuff, and on a saturday too. Party night! Also great to see them play my home town of Bournemouth, I am fairly certain this is their first time playing there so well done for that too.

Big old tour that......
Academy in Manchester!!!! noooooo!!!!!! Awful, awful venue. Chatter-central no doubt. First Godspeed play it, now Mogwai again! A giant aircraft hanger, packed full of chattering 'ironic' haircutted bellends no doubt. A definite 'down the front and pretend they aren't there' gig for me I think....... Actually, having said that, all gigs are like that these days since it became the epitomy of sanctioned cool to be 'seen' at gigs.

Really glad they announced a show at the SAGE. From what I've heard from a number of friends is that the sound quality there is very good. Can't wait for February

Fingers crossed, this also gives us an indication on the likely release of the new album - highly unlikely they'd announce UK dates unless they had something substantial to promote?

I was at the last show at the Manchester Academy and in fairness didn't think it was too bad - the band were playing loud enough to drown out most of the chattering and the sound quality was pretty spot on (Batcat was effing spectacular) but its the only show i've been to there. Most medium size venues are the same tho, you're always going to get people that pay £20 to go to these shows and talk throughout and ignore the music which frankly baffles me, but then so does the fact that they can tie their shoelaces in the morning and get through the day without walking into things.

Not as loud as other gigs, but still loud enough! Also I went to the Leeds o2 academy a few weeks ago and that's a great venue, saw Dino Jr and Built to Spill and the sound was excellent and v loud also!

Not getting to see Mogwai will be the least of your worries come February. Make sure you get plenty of sleep over the next few months. Oh, and congratulations - it's magic, I can highly recommend it. Given the age profile of Mogwai's longer-standing fans, I'd guess there are a fair few of us around here with kids.

fcuk me, i wasnt expecting this, On hols, come back in after a 50 miler bike ride to find this. Too late for the Sage pre-sale. Bollocks..Better get a standing tic on sat mornin Rob or else. Booked up for Leeds n M'ter. People... been to both Sage venues, only last week for The Coral infact. Its fcuking fantastic venue. really is. If they play Hall 2 its only 450 capacity which would be their smallest gig on the tour & for a good few years. Hall 1 is 1600 capacity. Hey Rob dont know bout you but thats my 1/2 term Hols. Pass on my thanks to the band for doing the honours this time...just like the good old days. The capacity of all of the other venues is 1000 or more, so it'll be the big room. Looks like Oxford's the smallest venue and even that's 1000+ The tour starts during my half-term. Inked in Bristol/Oxford/Birmingham, maybe one more if I can manage it. I don't have any links for Gateshead tickets, sorry.

Might just be me, but the Brixton ticket link is still open. I know the pre-sale stalls sold out, but it seems to be back open again...

I presumed it was pre-sale on Thursday, shut the doors and then open for business again 9.30am on Saturday.

how quickly do you all think the Edinburgh date is likely to sell out? just don't quite have the cash for it at the moment......

It's a big enough venue in Edinburgh, so doubt it will sell out too quickly, particularly as the band are in a "quiet" spell at the moment. Once they come back with some new material etc, I'm sure there profile will go up again and the shows may start to sell out. Or prove me wrong fans of the UK?
Anyway, I'm set for Edinburgh, and maybe one of the northern England dates.

I suppose I better go and actually buy my ticket for Bristol at some point. Shocking lack of interest from anyone else round here about this show - am concerned everyone has suddenly grown up!
Going to see how the build up shapes up before I make decision about whether to go to more than one show or not. Cardiff and Bmth both possible.

According to the Sage website, The Twilight Sad have been listed as the support act for the Newcastle show!

Going to get some tickets for the Leeds gig. Not seen Mogwai since Bridlington Spa supporting the Manic's in 1998!
