The GSTDP remix is fucking great. Normally I'm not a big fan of remix albums but if the rest are as good as it then we're in for a treat. Tim Hecker remix is really exciting!!

Be interested to hear what Robert Hampson has done to White Noise. Plus I wouldn't mind knowing where the album title came from!

Oh, that's a shame. Was really looking forward to the JKB remix. Bit disappointing really. Hope the rest of are good/better. KADP has never really been a repeat listen album for me, so maybe it's just remix issues all over again. Would prob like to hear a couple more before buying it i reckon as there are some great names on the album.

remix albums are never repeated play albums for me.....

So there's at least three vinyl editions - Sub Pop (coloured vinyl initially, then black) and Rock Action (black)?

I've only just noticed this, but I'm glad it's not just me - the title of this thread has the same mis-reading of the album title that I've used on several occasions on Brightlight until I noticed I'd got it wrong.
Seems to have perpetuated itself pretty widely too - a Google search turns up almost as many links for the incorrect spelling as the correct spelling.

Be interested to hear what Robert Hampson has done to White Noise. me too. huge loop and main fan... and mogwai fan, obviously! i really like the JkB track, my only complaint is that is that it's not quite a bit longer (very few jesu tracks rock in much under 10 mins). again i'm a massive broadrick fan so it started off on the right foot. does this pave the way for mogwai to support godflesh when they recreate "pure" at some gig(s) next year, with hampson back in the fray to ape the original lineup for that album?! in general i guess i'm looking forward to the album, but having said that i rarely listen to FADP but then i do have it on that hideously-coloured triple 12" set! Plus I wouldn't mind knowing where the album title came from! i can't tell if this is a joke cos of the thread's mis-spelling but, if not, it's a remix of "hardcore will never die"

Just had a first listen through to the start of the album. Sounding good so far.
Over-riding first impression is that it's less in-yer-face than Kicking A Dead Pig was. Maybe it's like a Mogwai show and there will be some really long, really loud songs at the end. Followed by Batcat.

Favourite track at the moment - the Zombi rework of Letters To the Metro.
Thankfully they've chosen to ditch their usual prog-rock squelchy keyboards in favour of remaking Letters To the Metro as an outtake from Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express sessions.

From what I have heard from this album so far, I would have to say that I am much more a fan of it then I was of Kicking A Dead Pig (I was never much into that album, not sure why but there it is).
Maybe someone will get me a copy of A Wretched Virile Lore for Xmas. I just spent the last of my money on a Mogwai hoodie yesterday, sooo.....

Favourite track at the moment - the Zombi rework of Letters To the Metro. I like this one, too. Puts me in mind of some 80s Giorgio Moroder track. Just playing Tim Hecker's Rano Pano, which is far better than the other remix here. Sent from my GT-I8150 using proboards

Totally gutted (and a bit angry and baffled) that HMV in Sheffield aren't stocking this album. Went in yesterday morning to try and buy it (and cheer myself up having been made unemployed on friday) and found this out the hard way. With the sorry state of music shops in Sheffield it means there is nowhere in the city centre you can buy the new Mogwai album. Amazing! Moan over. Was just really annoyed as I was looking forward to hearing it........

I know this is of little consolation to you but I just checked the sales for the record and it seems like HMV in Sheffield are pretty much the only HMV store that didn't take any stock. For what it's worth I've asked our distributor to get one of their sales reps to have a word.

Any ideas why HMV wouldn't be taking it? Is it a simple case of them not thinking it would sell any copies?

Any ideas why HMV wouldn't be taking it? Is it a simple case of them not thinking it would sell any copies? I'd imagine so. Like I say we've shipped to pretty much every other HMV in the UK so I guess the buyer in Sheffield just didn't put an order in for the title.

A real shame then. I'm sure I can't bee the only person in Sheffield who wanted to pick up a copy. Quite sad really- been a good while since I went to a record shop on day of release to get something I'd been looking forward to. Not a great vote of confidence for high street shopping over the internet!
