Last night (20/7) they did Cody and Ex Cowboy as the encore. Nice surprise.

Think the Glasgow encores were How to be a Werewolf, Helicon and Glasgow Mega Snake. If that's true I'm v.envious. arachnid if it's not light dependent there's a chance it could start earlier on Friday.

Thanks mrsrf. I emailed the Barbican Centre and they said the show starts at 7.30pm. I imagine it is not light dependent then. Good to here about the encores, didn't expect them to play anything except Zidane. Would love to hear Helicion.

BTW: At least Friday night's set was officially filmed (from the balcony section / stage right). I didn't spot any official camaras on Saturday though (although the information sign with the request not to take any pictures was still there).

I definitely doubt it would be light dependent. I went to the Barbican last month to see Low & there are no windows in the hall... It's 'downstairs'.
Low were LOUD! Cannae wait for Friday!

Blimey, glad I read this - Cambridge booked! Only an hour's drive for me as well. Excellent. megatron - the Junction is a great little venue. Holds about 800. The sound's usually pretty good. Right next to the railway station, a doddle to drive to off the M11, and pubs and decent food around it too. Hi sim72 - thanks - good info. Do you know of any good hotels within walking / stumbling distance?

To make this Cambridge thing work I am going to have to take my girlfriend away there for a few nights. A Travelodge just won't cut it, no matter how much Lenny Henry insists on it. Or is that another chain? Anyway, thanks - my wallet is gonna be harder hit!

Though I can recommend the Blythswood Square hotel in Glasgow if want to organise a similar trip for the next tour. The opposite of a Travelodge!

Got a lovely email from the Barbican today... "Thank you for booking for Mogwai performing live to Zidane, A 21st Century Portrait on Friday 26 July at 7.30pm in the Barbican Hall. We are writing to confirm the running time for tomorrow evening's live concert and film screening as approximately 125 minutes. Please note there will be no support and no interval during the performance and we therefore urge all customers to arrive in good time for the 7.30pm start. We hope you enjoy the performance and look forward to seeing you at the Barbican tomorrow." I wish more venues were like this

The band have confirmed on Facebook that tonight is a 7.30pm start. Plenty of time to squeeze in an encore!

A quick one to say last night was an amazing gig (bias aside!). I've always wanted to see Mogwai play at the Barbican, and I hope they play there again. I actually found the film better this time around - not sure whether this was to do with the music being played live or not. It was also certainly the loudest I've heard them for a long while. The 'half time' part was bordering on white noise at points! I'd forgotten that Kevin Shields was the 'noise consultant' for the film.
The encore was Secret Pint, Ex-Cowboy and a stunning (as always) Helicon. No boxes left unticked for me last night.
Other plus points to last night - no inane chatter and people staying for the credits of a film!

I'd agree with virtually everything you say with the exception of people sauntering in 5 minutes into the film, the venue made it clear that it was a 7.30 start but at that time there were plenty of empty seats....
Yesterday afternoon I had no ticket and hadn't planned to travel on the off chance but having listened to the Manchester recording I just took a punt and off I went, I'd taken £50 spare and that was my absolute limit. When I arrived at 6pm it was clear that there were no touts outside the tube or the venue, I went to all the local pubs just asking if anyone had a spare, I even stopped people that I thought looked like they might be mogwai fans...all to no avail.
I decided to go to the venue and asked if there were any returns, in typical well organised Barbican fashion I was shown where to queue and along with two other we waited patiently until 6.40 when the manager appeared with returns, ironically the bulk of these were from the guest list and in truth I could not have had a better seat in the house had I hand picked it......the moral of the tale is that if for some reason you don't get a ticket (I have my reasons why I was ticketless) and you find yourself on the day wanting to go then take a punt, I paid face value which for just Helicon was well worth the money....

Good work with the returns queue - I'd never considered going that route before, but might give it a go at this sort of venue in the future.

Though, both of the last two gigs I've seen at the Junction have finished around 10.30 despite the alleged 11pm curfew. Still, you never know...

I checked with Stuart - they're not playing for 2.5 hours. Stage time 8.30pm is correct.

Ah shame.... 2 hours maybe? Rob - don't suppose you have any bl! badges going spare... ? PM or email me your address. Most of them went but I do have a few pairs left. On the subject of Brightlight - I *finally* got round to updating the discography this week. A few bits to finish off (some of the Rave Tapes info missing, for starters) but it's a lot closer to complete than it has been for the last two years. Amazing how many remixes Mogwai did in 2011.

Wow - Cambridge Junction's website is showing the band on at 8.30 tomorrow. Curfew at 11. 2 and a half hour set then?
I suppose this'll be the greatest hits set for the last ever set at ATP? Ha! Looking forward to it a lot.

Wow. Seriously wish I was attending this. But I wait.. very patiently till May.
As usual, I'm hoping for a good mix of new and old material. I'll also keep hoping, as I do every tour, that maybe they'll decide to bring Summer out of live retirement. Heh.
