Wow - Cambridge Junction's website is showing the band on at 8.30 tomorrow. Curfew at 11. 2 and a half hour set then? I suppose this'll be the greatest hits set for the last ever set at ATP? Ha! Looking forward to it a lot. I think I posted some stuff about this in the 2014 gigs thread, sorry. I've moved it into this thread, so it's on the previous page here now. Stage time is 8.30 but they're not playing for 2.5 hrs. No support.

Ah - noted Rob thanks. I kinda knew that - was teasing myself a little bit. I'm still very excited. These smallish gigs are always special.

Got the badges thanks Rob :-)
Daring to get excited about tonight now... had various parental stresses going on but fingers crossed we will be hitting the A1 in 5 hours time...
If any of the fellas read this, a 2.5 hour set would be just FINE thanks
Right off to dig out my earplugs and tickets.

Yep - looking forward to this. Any recommendations for pre-gig pubs? As it turns out, I might well be there before the doors open (no point in driving home as I work between there and Cambridge!)

Leaving home shortly. Will probably go to the Cambridge Blue on Gwydir Street, about a mile from the junction, for a pre-gig pint. The bar at the Junction's not up to much. Now can I find my BL badge (otherwise, big bloke with a beard wearing a Chemikal Underground t-shirt)?

New stuff is ace. One had singing (Stuart on lead but with BB on BVs (!)?) and started all subtle but ended up fierce. Remurdered was blistering, though I would have liked to hear the bassy keyboards more, but could have been my funny position on the left side of the stage. Luke joined for violin and some synth duties. Had a nice little chat to Kenny after about the fun of mixing the new songs. Sorry to not see anyone - was packed and we got there at 8.24!

I couldn't make it, sadly - working. Good to know the new songs appear to have been well-received.

New songs 1. Blippy synth start, washes of guitar and bass 2. Math-y stuttering rocker 3. Keyboard driven with Stuart singing, builds to noise crescendo in the middle 4. Didn't hear this one well - had to step out to return an important phone call (bah) 5. Blistering fast paced noise rock a la GMS

Ah - well done sim72 - I wondered if it was one of our number who failed to get a setlist but still got a picture. I was immediately to your left in the begging scrum.
I arrived at about 8:00 and got a spot on the barrier on the left hand side. I was moaning to myself that I've not been on Stuart's side of the stage for a couple of years now, but my run of being right at the front is unbroken since Hammersmith on the Hawk tour.
In such a small venue even when things got very loud (Herod was mind-blowing - thank God for earplugs) it was great to hear what everyone was bringing to the party. John and Dom were both outstanding tonight - they seemed to bring a real air of menace. Barry on the other hand seemed like he needed this warmup gig - I thought the rest of the band were waiting for him a couple of times, and the timings were off completely during Hunted.
The new stuff sounds great. Particularly enjoyed Heard About You Last Night and Mastercard, as well as Remurdered, which seems set to become a live staple.
Once again, I'm wondering why Luke isn't regarded as a permanent member of the band - he brings a different element to the live sound.
Bring on Royal Festival Hall.

My own fault for putting it on vibrate rather than silent. Won't make that mistake again.

Heard About You Last Night on YouTube: Brilliant! This could be Mogwai's first hip hop song.

like inane chatter, should be banned from gigs ;-) Sent from my GT-I8150 using proboards Is it just that the earplugs cut a lot of it out, or was this a pretty decent crowd when it came to mid song chat? And watching those videos, maybe I was a bit rough on Barry when it came to Hunted. They were definitely waiting around for him to kick it off, but the timings aren't as bad as they felt at the time.

If the album recording of Heard About You Last Night is anywhere near the live version, I have no idea how 'anyone' could level an accusation of not using silence effectively at that track.
We'll see.
