Surprised there's no thread about this. Managed to get the last copy in my local record shop- anyone else? Thoughts?

RSD is a farce. An incredibly effective way of preventing the people who actually support record stores by buying records all year from getting to hear stuff they'd like to hear. If they really wanted to support record stores, they should let them order in the records and put them straight on ebay, rather than having to sell them to people who only go into the shop on that one day a year because they know there's a quick buck to be made.
Most of the releases are a total waste of the earth's resources - RSD is so far from being about the music, it beggars belief.
There are three 'indie' record stores left in Birmingham. One never takes part in RSD, one deals exclusively in second-hand records and never sells new music apart from RSD. At least one of the two who do take part had already sold out of several RSD release yesterday (Friday) afternoon.

A lovely twitter friend of mine tweeted that he was queuing at 7.30am and I cheekily said if he happened to see it I'd gladly reimburse him...and the good man did indeed buy me one! :-) got to wait for him to post it now...

There's now 11 up on ebay and 2 on Discogs
Looks like Rock Action/Mogwai have acted to get the 'freebie' RSD compilation CDs taken down from ebay

They were sold out by the time I got to Sister Ray yesterday, at about 1015. Bloody long queue to get in. Anyway, I wasn't planning to get it, as I haven't been keeping up with all the remix releases.

ebay seller 'oscar_the_cats_records' has 48 RSD 2013 releases for sale at present, and as many again completed listings for stuff already sold. Including multiple copies of several releases.
Like I said, a farce.

I queued for 4 and a half hours (starting at 6.20) to get in. Did manage to get the last copy of the Mogwai one, which was good, but didn't get the Twilight Sad one that I really wanted. Plenty of copies on ebay- bought from the same shop I went to- so people ahead of me in the queue were clearly just vultures.
I agree that it's turned into a farce. The only positive was the pleasant people I talked to in the queue and the friendly staff at the shop who were doing their best.
It needs sorting out though, desperately. It seems illogical for there to be so few copies of everything- if people can't buy what they want, surely that defeats the object of the day? Why not release ample copies to satisfy demand on that day? People can't buy what isn't on sale. As it is, it's simply feeding the ebay market.
I'm sure next year will be even worse.

Why was the shop selling the leftovers so soon? I thought the agreement for stocking RSD releases was that the shops wouldn't sell them online until next Saturday.
I got the OMD 10" picture disc for £12/£13, and last night I saw it going for £500+ on eBay.

Trying to locate a copy of this. I'm in the US, so i assume it would need to be an online source or some kind soul willing to pick it up for me. I'll gladly return the favor for any US releases or pay costs. One fan to another! thanks.

Sounds like they had a decent day. Good to read that the early queuers were mainly folks they already knew.

So, of the five RSD releases I wanted (aren't they ridiculously expensive?! £16 for a CD in 2013?), three of them are all over the place still this morning. The other two, the two Rock Action releases, I'll have to manage without until the prices come down.
