Can't think of a better way to end 2013 with a trip to Cambridge and then start 2014 with a trip to London

Just hoping the RFH tickets don't go too quickly - am at Beautiful Days festival this weekend and the mobile signal is practically zero there!

Arrgh! I have a similar problem sim72 - on holiday in the Hebrides with terrible mobile signal (no Internet) - only just seen a tweet and missed Monday's announcement. RFH sounds like it would be one not to miss...but surely there will be more UK dates coming with the album too?

RFH - front row, edge of the middle block. Happy. Front stalls filling up quickly, still plenty of space in the rear stalls and balcony, but don't think there'll be too much left when they go on general sale tomorrow.

I'm struggling to understand how there are so many Mogwai fans who also have Southbank memberships. I tried adding the membership, then adding tickets then removing the membership from the basket because that worked a few years ago for a Joanna Newsom gig but they've fixed that glitch.

I don't live far away from the South Bank and the membership is a great option for me as I'll go and see music there 4 or 5 times a year. The lack of booking fee for events for members is a great feature. Besides that, free private viewings for certain exhibitions and access to a private members bar mean its all well worth paying for. I got a really nice seat today - can't really believe I'll be seeing the boys 3 times in a couple of months, when there seemed like nothing on the radar until quite recently.

Booked! Front row rear stalls. I quite liked being a bit higher up at the Barbican, hope it is as good at the Royal Festival Hall, not been there in about 10 years.

I'm not sure whether anyone from Mogwai reads this forum (let's hope they do) but I was speaking to J Wilgoose esq from Public Service Broadcasting after another spot on gig last night (this one at Reading)and I said that I saw Mogwai in PSB's music and it turns out he is a big fan - and was shocked that they were playing Royal Festival Hall as he was on their mailing list and hadn't been told! (being grateful for the info - I think he was even going to book....)
I said he should try and get a support slot but he reckoned Mogwai wouldn't be interested in the likes of them. I have a great deal of respect for the quality of Stuart's tastes in other bands and I said I would be shocked if they weren't fans.
Can we get them as RFH supports!? It makes sense and they'd be a quality support act for the Gwai.......

I went to see them partly on the strength of that interview where he said he was a mogwai fan. I have to say I thought they were ok but sort of one trick ponies.... I'd rather see a band that mogwai love and want to support and who need the exposure (unlike PSB !)

So that's at least three of us who were in locations with no hope of booking when these shows went on sale. In my case, four miles into a deep valley in the Lake District. Might seem incredible in the wired world but they're still on dial-up at best and no mobile signal anywhere in the valley.
Great place to stay, mind you.
Anyway - these look like shows in decent-size venues to me? I wonder whether there's any plans to fill the gap between London and Amsterdam with, say, a second London show? That'd be good.

...and was shocked that they were playing Royal Festival Hall as he was on their mailing list and hadn't been told! (being grateful for the info - I think he was even going to book....) The mailing list is normally, it seems, the last place where the info gets posted. It's up on Facebook, Twitter and the forum before the mail out. That said, the mail out does sometimes have more detailed info and other bits of news.

Yep rear stalls for me too. On the subject of Public Service Broadcasting I've seen them twice recently - "If War Should Come" especially at the end, is so Mogwai they should sue :-) Mind you I saw 65daysofstatic this weekend and PSB aren't the only culprits!

2nd night added at the RFH on Saturday 25th. Argh! This is a much better option for me (rather than pelting 90 miles down the M1 after work on the Friday) so will prob have a spare for Friday at some point...

Tickets for Saturday booked....row K centre stalls, apparently sales were slower than expected, I don't know if this was due to most people already having booked for Friday or the lack of advertising either way I'm a very happy boy!!!

Row E front stalls. And next to the gangway in case of alcohol-related calls of nature. Nice. And I've shifted the Friday ticket...
Off to see PSB again tomorrow at the Wirksworth Electronic Music Festival, which as a support features a hurdy-gurdy orchestra and audience generated music through the medium of sticks and wool...

So is there any chance of a pre gig meet up for a swift half or two?
I can make enquires into decent nearby hostelries, I know that some of you prefer what was once very fairly & accurately described as "the strainings from some old lady's tights"
And if anyone's going to Cambridge then ditto regarding a pre gig meet....maybe the Abbey?

Would certainly be up for an RFH pre gig pint as I'm on my own for that one - Cambridge might be a problem as coming straight from work so not much time (and also driving!)

More tour dates tomorrow, and another batch later this week. Educated guesswork says tomorrow's will be Japan/far east - check the picture here - they're announcing the bill a band at a time, and posting a teaser picture the day before: ynos.tv/hostessclub/schedule/201402weekender/

Dates to be added to that - Coachella is end of April, Sasquatch is end of May? And Shaky Knees Festival (Atlanta) in early May?
And more Californian shows after Coachella sells out?

It would be great if the promotion company here in Halifax could get them up here for a date, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm flying my ass to MTL come hell or high water.

The choice of seated venues for Manchester and London dates is interesting...particularly given the danceable nature of remurdered. Glad I'll be standing at cambridge later this month
