So, anyway - that was the best Mogwai show I've seen for a long time. Are your photos from Saturday then? I don't pay much attention to what Mogwai wear on stage but they don't seem to have changed their clothes since Friday.

^^^^^Ha ha ha... Here's where we really need someone from the band to confirm/deny. Forget pedals and such.

Glad you like Death & Vanilla (common ground!)- and buying that at the time has saved you a fair few quid. The rerelease of the first recording on vinyl late last year has already sold out yet hardly anyone seems to know about the band!
In retrospect the Venue was much better inside than the antiseptic outside. The sound was pretty much impeccable - I think I was being a bit sulky as the ATP show was just so so so good. I should have lowered my sights! Seeing Christmas Steps again was a joy and the whole things was very enjoyable - I could have done with No Medicine for Regret - I can't understand why everyone doesn't think that is the album stand out but I have grown to learn that Mogwai fans like a whole slew of different things by the band!

I could have done with No Medicine for Regret - I can't understand why everyone doesn't think that is the album stand out but I have grown to learn that Mogwai fans like a whole slew of different things by the band! I agree, it didn't stand out for me that much at first, and then I gave it a couple more concentrated listens and it's one of my favourites. I read something in a review about the emotions it manages to convey. I don't know exactly what they were going for but how things are for me at the moment, it just makes me weep nearly every time I listen to it (my mum cries at hymns, I cry at Mogwai...)

At least those very nice Friday photos have laid to rest the suggestion that the band didn't change their clothes between the two nights :-)

I can confirm with great shame that I was indeed wearing the same clothes both nights.

Great to see ten rapid well represented. Not seen ithica live for years. Helicon 2 was beautiful, Helicon 1 sublime. Other Highlights for me were White Noise and Jim Morrison, and Remurdered was spectacular. Great show, but sitting down for gigs is shit and I'm not doing that again!

So I did have a cry tonight - during helicon 1 which was indeed sublime. Took my earplugs out and enjoyed the full force! Have to say the sound was interesting, kind of super crispy and separate ... could have just been my position in middle of row G in the stalls... Got the feeling it might have been better in the balcony seats maybe. My two pen'orth: Deesh went down really well, and remurdered was ace as usual. Something odd happened with john's pedal in blues hour. Would have personally swapped out MGP, good to hear we're no here oh and I agree about sitting ^^ Tracy - looking forward to standing at Edinburgh

Good show last night in Manchester. Got the impression the band were in a bit of a rush though maybe. We're No Here (set closer) seemed a bit truncated to me. Was a very early finish too- just after 10pm. Nice to hear Ithica again after a long time (really, really took me back to being excited about Ten Rapid coming out all those years ago!). Would have to say though that the highlights were the new stuff- Remurdered especially. Was sat on the front row and the sound was exceptional- no need for earplugs at all in my view. I love that they're doing seated venues now- really cuts down on the moronic chattering elements of the crowd and makes for a far more enjoyable experience.

was at the Manchester gig. still undecided about seated gigs: good that it's comfortable and quiet, shame that it seems to suck the energy out of the gig.
I didn't get the fuss about Remurdered, and the gig did feel a bit rushed. Stuart was having fun but they definitely don't seem to lose their shit now - We're No Here was just a trundle through the chords and the gig had a slow start. Friend, Hunted, Jim Morrison and Helicon 2 were the highlights. Oh and John shredded on Blues Hour, except he came in too early!!

Glasgow show was really good, though perhaps a little slow to get things going with the choice of openers. It felt a bit odd with the RCH having removed the stalls seating, presumably done for the duration of the Celtic Connections festival. Excellent having RM Hubbert as support and for the first time in my life at a show of this size, nobody talked during his solo guitar performance! Where are all these polite people when I go to other gigs? They weren't so quiet when he was telling his stories. He had the place in stitches. A man of rare talent.
Mogwai were on form and I thought the setlist was pretty good, given that we are unlikely to see the days of 20 minute versions of the rip-snorting classics any more. I seem to remember at least three songs with singing (Barry, Stuart and Luke) - are Mogwai going to transform into a regular band? What's with the stuffed owl (or whatever it was - I was on the wrong side of the stage) on Dominic's rig?

Cheers! I could have had a night off and done some shouting! Aye, the false start to MGP was funny. Barry had a loose lead or something, so it all came grinding to a halt, to much laughter. Last night I was reminded of how much I like HWNDBYW.

I was at the London gig on Saturday, very much enjoyed it. It was first my show since 2011 (Bexhill-on-Sea) which is a tad embarrassing! I've been enjoying "Rave Tapes" a great deal and it was good to hear the new stuff live. I remember "Deesh" being particularly good (double drummers) and "Remurdered" was as excellent as I'd suspected it would be. Good choice of oldies throughout and whilst there'll always be something missing that I want to hear, if they play "Helicon 1" I'll forgive them anything.
I thought the sound was superb, an excellent mix (drums louder than usual?) and really clear (I was sat just to the front and left of the mixing desk). Personally I would have liked it a little louder (my ears are already fucked so another night of being deafened isn't going to do much more harm!) but I guess it was loud enough - my missus jumped out of her seat when the band launched back into "...Satan" after the quietening in the middle!
If I'm honest I'd rather be standing but I think the good thing about the venue, and perhaps the seating, was that it enforces some reverence, so people were respectfully quiet throughout (apart from a few numpties in one of the boxes) but, in their defence, they were shouting for "Stanley Kubrick" rather than just shouting.
All in all, an excellent evening and I'm very much looking forward to seeing them again on Saturday in Brussels. Not leaving it so long this time...

I wonder if we're going to see Hexon Bogon again? After being played at Cambridge it got booted from the ATP set and hasn't been played since ...

Just stumped up for a ticket for Edinburgh. Same day as Scotland v France (which I'm also going to), so it'll be a quick taxi drive in from Murrayfield and a stupidly expensive hotel.

Hexon Bogon is definitely one of my favorite tracks on the album. Hopefully it will make it back into rotation. It also makes me happy to see Ten Rapid being represented so well. I'll keep hanging on to the idea of Summer being played again. Sent from my GT-S7560M using proboards

We're in Brussels for tonight's show. We arrived yesterday to make a weekend of it (kids are with nanny and grandad) and bumped into Stuart yesterday. He was shopping in carrefour and had his skateboard (don't panic. I've already contacted OK! For the exclusive) and he was in good spirits and said they'd had "a really good week". The band's bus was parked outside the venue and is still there and the band are in it which is a bit weird cos it seems to be Brussels' main street. Anyway, they're on stage at 9 and I will try not to have too much Belgian hospitality before then...
