I don't know whether anyone here was heading down - the ATP Jabberwocky event this weekend has been cancelled.
Let's hope it hasn't cost too many people too much - tickets are being refunded but I know folks who've forked out over £100 on travel and accommodation, and I'm sure they're not the worst-affected.
Pros: decent line-up Cons: Shit venue and in London

If this morning's round of stories about dodgy accounting and squabbling over ticket refunds are true, god help anyone who's booked for ATP Iceland next year. Or any other ATP event, come to that.

Yeah I've been reading the facebook comments on this with interest. Poor sods. The ExCel place did seem a bit of an odd venue choice I have to say.

Is it true ATP are now dicking around telling bands they can't play replacement shows due to contractural obligations to the (cancelled) festival? It gets worse...
I wonder whether anyone's had a ticket refund from ATP/Dash yet?

So...
ATP cancel Jabberwocky Other promoters set about booking the bands who were supposed to be playing Jabberwocky into other venues - some great line-ups, decent prices etc ATP start waving 'contractural obligations' in the faces of the promoters and bands concerned Bands (e.g. The Van Pelt) pull out of the sold-out replacement shows they were supposed to be playing after threats from ATP ATP books their own replacement shows at Ace Hotel, most of which have sold out
Surely ATP's reputation is irretrievable after this farce?
To cap it all, Barry Hogan's used European data laws to block Google searches.
Cock.

ATP are a joke now and Barry Hogan has serious delusions of grandeur. ATP festivals were amazing fun, but it's quite clear that ATP are completely incompetent when it comes to running the finances, and to cancel with just a few days notice is a complete shambles. The dreadful statements that have come out stink of 'woe me' and how it's everyone elses fault.
Give it up Barry - you created an amazing thing and now you've crashed it into the ground and are dragging it through the mud.
Someone else (Primavera, Pitchfork etc) will tap into the UK festival market and we'll be just fine.
