Sorry to anyone I stood up at the Southampton. I got stuck at the office again and got to Camden around 8. Managed to get the same perch on the fence under Stuart's speaker stack that I had last night. Another awesome night (apart from the loudest, most wavy hands in your face, drunk woman possible standing to my left - I was wearing my good earplugs and I could still hear her chatting in the quiet bits - and when she yelled at Dom to "give us a smile" at the start of Helicon, I nearly lost it). I'm not going to choose between the nights; they were both fantastic. Wednesday was possibly the better for full on sonic assault. Thursday probably the more interesting selection of songs.. Forest Swords were my sort of support act. Prolapse were just a bit too dark...

Back in the Midlands. That was excellent. First 5 tracks I couldn't have written a better setlist myself. And the encore was shudderingly good. Thanks to gerrymc for the company.

the setlist from night 2 looks about as close to the band playing a greatest hits setlist as I've ever seen. so very jealous of you all getting to see it. but damn, that's a great set.

Aye it was a great night. Packed house (note to self: don't let the bags bother you). Fantastic selection of songs, although a bit disappointed there were no surprise guests. Then again, there was just a mic up front for Stuart, so that was a slight clue. I thought Sacred Paws were really good. I'm going to have to listen to their record a bit more. Didn't go a bundle on Forest Swords, I'm afraid. I usually enjoy that kind of stuff, but just couldn't get into it last night.

Amazing gig last night. Likewise, was hoping for Gruff or Aidan to appear, but that's a minor grumble for an otherwise belter of a set list. BMX was a joy to hear as was Kubrick and MFMK. Not heard those ones for a while. And it's not a Mogwai gig without Helicon 1 or Satan . The sound at the Roundhouse was excellent, also. Clear and (very) loud! A fitting way to celebrate 20 years. Couldn't work out if John was actually ready to lamp the tech telling him they'd run out of time or whether that was just mucking about.

Last nights setlist was amazing, opening with Superheroes of BMX was special for me as they opened with this the first time i saw them back in 2007 at Somerset House! Loved the Roundhouse as a venue, sound was clear (and loud) and could pretty much see from anywhere.
MFMK is probably the best thing I've ever heard live.
Edit: There's a decent recording of Wednesday's gig on dimeadozen.org if anyone is interested. Hopefully one of Thursday's will surface too.

I was a bit disappointed they closed with MFMK both nights. They seemed to mix up the sets pretty well so I was convinced we were going to get Like Herod or Ex Cowboy.

Very interesting. The only slight (slight!) disappointment is the lack of CODY representation. I think at one point that album was a favorite of many band members so somewhat surprising. Also, a Revenants song (or Tuner!) would have been great but I didn't expect it. Only songs played all 6 nights were MFMK and Remurdered. Tracy a close second with 5 times. Has anyone found a youtube recording of Superheroes from either show yet?

Went to both the London gigs and ahead of Wednesday night's show I had the luck and good fortune to have a brief natter with Martin Bulloch by the sound desk while Prolapse were doing their stuff.
I said that I was really looking forward to whatever Mogwai served up in London given the band's previous set lists in Ireland and at Barrowlands and he wavered his hand and told me to "temper my enthusiasm".
Mr Bulloch, you must have been joking!
The two Roundhouse shows were mesmorising.
The performances were utterly superb over both nights and thank you Martin and the rest of Mogwai for producing such stunning and varying sets.
Nearly 30 songs at a fabulous venue.
A massive privilege for me to have been there in Camden to watch and listen to the best gig - I'm treating it as one - I've ever attended.

Brilliant, lovely bloke Martin. He should read the drum thread on here for further assaults on his modest nature ;-)
Glad you had a good time.

i went at second night in london = AMAZINg.
The bmx as opening track....a jim morrison powerful version, stanley kubrick....xmas steps,....jesus...omg! These were enough for an awesome night. The guys were at their top form, JOHN was over control during batcat and MFMK... at the end of this song he crashing his guitar on amps, i don't understood the reason. I hoped till the end for ex cowboy, like herod and i love you...i would preferred one of this instead "tathcer" but you don't get me wrong..,i love the set which they did!
