It reminds me of something... not the GSTDP vibe, but the vocals and melody... Just had a laugh with Barry on twitter saying if they play songs like that they'll have more opportunity to laugh at people dancing down the front FWIW - Coolverine is really growing on me, the drum bit works better in the car rather than on headphones IMO

I really like this, very catchy and love the vocal effects. Was left feeling a bit flat by Coolverine really, sounded like Mogwai-by-numbers to me. Feel excited about the new album again. Think this may divide fans though, not very 'Mogwai'.

The vocals remind me of The Flaming Lips. And Mercury Rev. In fact Mercury Rev more than anything.

The MusicGlue download for Party In The Dark is 24bit/96khz wav. Hopefully an indicator that high-res downloads might be available with the boxset? Hopefully.

I listened to the album while on a run today, and far too early to judge after 1 listen, but I remember a few of the tracks did stick out straight away, while some others kinda passed without me noticing. It'll be interesting to see how my impressions change on repeated listens. But not a dramatic departure from the recent work they've done from listen #1. Not that that's a bad thing at all.

Couple of listens in - too early but some great standout tracks and the production is as good as I'd hoped (fantastic drum sound). Looking forward to my boxset arriving now

The new album is excellent. There is something for everyone. Every song is very well-crafted.

I don't think there's a single melody on this entire album, except Party in the Dark. It's just some serious riffage. I like it but I'm not sure how much longevity it's going to have for me.
Gonna sound monster live though! I hope they play a good chunk of it on tour.

Three listens through, and I don't know - I can't seem to grab onto much. Most of these songs still feel like a collection of studio ideas but not fully baked yet. The title track is gorgeous though.
Anyone else think Battered at a Scramble sounds like the Smashing Pumpkins once it kicks in?

Word from Temporary Residence is the US pressing is delayed indefinitely...
"still in production at the pressing plant, with no hopes of arriving in time for the scheduled September 8 release date. All vinyl formats are delayed, with the deluxe box set editions being last in the queue as production is completed."
Totally bummed, I ordered the deluxe box and reminds me of the 3 week delay to receive the Central Belters box.

I've been giving the album some more dedicated listening over the last few days and it's really beginning to grow on me. But like superfuzz said, I find the first 2 tracks the weakest. Odd that they're the ones' that've been released. I think Don't Believe The Fife is utterly stunning, as is the title track, and some very solid ones in the middle there as well. Also agree that the drums sound very very good.

I'm holding out for the box set delivery - aka I haven't told my OH that it's leaked yet as he's the digital music curator in our house ;-)

I'm also avoiding the leaks. Wouldn't know where to find anyway. I'm happy to wait for the box set next week.

Is this a bonus track? Edit. Aah new single, I like it. Sounds like a heavy New Order.

Have only gave into temptation a couple of times and listened to this, with the exception of a couple of tracks I think its a strong offering - a bit more in your face in places than the last one - love the title track and love the quirkiness of aka 47

Has someone at Rock Action / Temporary Residence screwed up royally, or is Black Panther the same song as Eternal Panther?

Hey everyone, on discogs it states that "releases bought direct at the Mogwai webshop includes a 12" graphical print, hand signed by the band members". Where about do I order that? Thanks
