Really enjoyed last night’s Leith show, particularly the Herod/Helicon/MFMK ending. Don’t think I’ve seen them do Kids Will Be Skeletons before. Martin was on top form, noticeable in ones like a Helicon 1. Wish I was going tonight too but looking forward to November already.

Last night was excellent, tonight was pretty darn good too but I think last night just edged it.... But they played We're Not Done (End Title) from the Kin soundtrack live for the first time, plus it was good to hear Travel Is Dangerous for the first time in a while...... Plus it is good to have Martin back !!

Just a heads up for anyone who's going to the Birmingham show on Friday that it's an earlier show - if you want to see Twilight Sad I'd suggest getting there by 7.30 at the latest.

Anyone know what was played last night? The only video I can find is a 15-second screaming wall of noise that bears *some* relation to Like Herod

Setlist.fm (https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/mogwai/2018/swg3-glasgow-scotland-6b97c2ce.html) is being slowly updated. Surprising really, as it's often updated within an hour or two of the show finishing.
I'll be hitting Liverpool, Brum, and Leeds, and the bootleg-o-tron 3000 is fully charged and ready to capture.

Excellent show last night at SWG3, Setlist FM is correct.......
I turned up expecting it to be in the larger venue at SWG3 which holds a 1,000 people, but gig was in The Warehouse which holds just over 400 people.... Can now understand why it sold out so quickly, been years since I've seen them play such a small show, not including live radio sessions.... The venue actually reminded me of seeing them at The Key Youth Centre in EK over 20 years ago.....
Hopefully will just be as good next week in Cardiff......

Looks like a great setlist. Looking forward to Friday (the Mill is fairly small too - 750cap).

Good to see a gradual changeover in which older songs are being played during this year. The Glasgow setlist is at least as notable for what's not there as what is - several long-term setlist regulars missing, making way for some less-often-performed songs.

Liverpool was really good - very loud and a really nice setlist.
Shame it wasn't sold out and the venue is a general shithole in the middle of nowhere... but nice that they're heading to Liverpool for a change from Manchester (and they did Albert Hall twice this year already)
Didn't note the setlist but it included auto rock, jim morrison, ithica, like herod, helicon 1, as well as some of the new ones.
This is the third time I've seen them tour the Every Country's Sun and I'm starting a theory about them needing time for the new ones to bed in. I thought all of them sounded great, after being a bit underwhelmed at other gigs. Coolverine is just a classic Mogwai track and could make my top 10. Every Country's Sun is great as well. Only downsides tonight was that it felt like it was the start of the tour (know they played glasgow) but the lighting was a bit wonky and there were various technical issues going on.

I feel like I might disagree on that re: Liverpool. I'll sleep on it and decide. Thought the set was good (first two a repeat of Liverpool 2014, which was a belter), but other things affected my enjoyment. It seemed hideously undersold, the technical issues seemed to hamper them significantly in places, and I thought the sound was a bit off. It seemed both not loud enough and also had bits where the bass was badly distorting. The people around me were noisy, and a particular couple annoyed me severely. I could hear them kissing at one point. Full on lip-smacking French stuff.
I've had a pig of a week and it could be me, but I felt it started really good, and little niggling things chipped away at my enjoyment at times.
I am a curmudgeon at times at gigs though. I just don't know why you'd pay that much money to fucking talk all the way through it and be pushing back and forth to the bar every fifteen minutes. You could just stick a playlist on and get up to as much heavy petting and talking as you want at home!

Well, the good news is that I've got a decent recording at least. A listen back suggests the sound niggles I could hear weren't that bad too. We're talking things like hearing rattling on certain bass frequencies that just haven't turned up on the recording.
Bizarre really as I use an alright set of ear plugs that usually give a crisp impression of the sound and cut out a lot of the chatter around you (the main benefit!). Maybe I'll risk deafness tonight.
To Birmingham!

The promoters of the Brighton show on Sunday have shoved a third band on to the bill, reducing The Twlight Sad's stage time by 15 mins and Mogwai's by potentially 30 mins in the process.

Agreed. Pretty special. Very, very loud. Oh that’s a good set! I’m jealous, wonder what we’ll get tonight. Liverpool- they didn’t have much time to sound check apparently which might explain the glitches. I had my earplugs in and thought the last half sounded brilliant. Agreeed there was an odd reserve in the crowd at points but also pints in the air and snogging down the front ?! The addition Brighton support was playing with Elisabeth Elektra last weekend so I guess the band have invited them. I thought TTS were good, going to get there early tonight. Who’s got their brexit is shite stuff? My mum requested a bag- not all baby boomer OAPs voted leave

Last night was superb. Great sound and a fairly intimate venue. Great to hear Ithica and Skeletons again. One of the best Satans I've ever heard, too. Kept up my special skill of attracting MFMK encores, as well!
Went with a friend who'd never seen the guys before, and she was very impressed (although she jumped out of her skin at *that* moment in MFS, probably should have warned her).
The Twilight Sad were excellent as well. New songs are killer. Frightened Rabbit cover was a nice touch.

I've seen them less than many in this parish I'm sure. Tonight will be #10, and the 5th this year. It's only really been Liverpool that I've come away from feeling less than stellar. I have a habit of attracting Jim Morrison, though this is something that pleases me greatly. There's only a show in 1998 and an Atomic show where they've not played it, and I'll be equally happy to hear it again tonight.
Hard to predict for tonight as they don't seem to have a lot else to mix it up with compared to the last two nights. I'll be very happy with Ex-Cowboy though.

Anyone else up for 'guess the Leeds setlist'?
I wouldn't be surprised to see Party In The Dark, Rano Pano, Crossing The Road Material, Every Country's Sun make an appearance. Beyond that....anyone's guess.

Ah no Jim Morrison tonight But was good to hear we’re not done for the first time. The last 3 songs were identical as Liverpool so no MFMK for me on this tour, but I do love We’re No Here as a closer. Unfortunately whilst I could see my spot near the front was a bit crap in other ways - I got stuck next to some odd people (drunk &screaming?!) and couldn’t feel the bass as much as Thursday. Came away feeling sad that the next Mogwai on my calendar is the August Glasgow Cure show. That’s ages away :-(

All the Mogwai headline shows i've seen this year they've usually played an hour & 45 minute sets..........
