Yeah generally speaking I think the album mixes are definitely superior to the live versions. I do quite like the fuzzy noise of Drive The Nail live, though. And the album vocals on Here we go are so fuzzed out as to be unintelligible :-)
(On the other hand, you can tell Barry is singing *something* on Fuck Off Money....)

Favourite moment (at the moment) - 5:20 in Midnight Flit, where the keys start to cut back through the strings and guitars.

What about the spacey stereo effect near the end on Ceiling Granny :-)

What about the spacey stereo effect near the end on Ceiling Granny :-) Ceiling Granny isn't really doing anything for me, to be honest. Presume it'll be used as set closer when Mogwai start touring, as it drops nicely into the Glasgow Megasnake/Batcat/Old Poisons 'banger' scheme of things.

Various thoughts:
Is the spoken word opening a nod to "Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space"? "To The Bin My Friend..." recalls a stately "White Noise". The keyboard line "Dry Fantasy" makes me think of Ulrich Schnauss. "Fuck Off Money" makes me think of an evil Kraftwerk! The strings on "Midnight Flit" are fabulous. Would love to see "Pat Stains" played in a proper live setting. "It's What I Want To Do, Mum" is their best album closer since "Mogwai Fear Satan".
I think it's their best album since "Hardcore...". Pretty damned fantastic.

The spoken word open is, apparently a recording of the guy from Blanck Mass talking/rambling in his sleep.

Yeah, but it's cool to have it open the album, like the opening of that Spiritualized album. I was wondering if they did it that way as a tribute.

Wee observations on the live performance of “ATLC”, just nerdy ones and typical of me:
Stuart seems to play more on a new Fender Jaguar and less of his trusty Fender Telecaster. This isn’t a negative observation btw! A change can be good!
Barry also played on a Fender Jaguar and he hasn’t played on a fender guitar since the Rock Action tour. Ish.
Any chance of seeing them playing a double neck Gibson guitar in the future?
❤️ Take care everyone! ❤️

I prefer the demo version of Drive The Nail to the finished version. Really enjoying this demos disc.

Oooh, demos. Shame I no longer have the patience for physical media :-) hope they turn up on iTunes or YouTube.
Speaking of which, were there no b-sides I guess?

Does anyone know if the digital download code in the deluxe boxset includes the demos 12" as well or is it just for the main album? (I suspect the latter).

It includes the demos, and the art which is great!

I've been listening to the album quite alot, far and away the most I have listened to any "new" record by any band in the last 10 years probably. Does that mean it's the best record in the last 10 years? No, but something about it means I can listen to it repeatedly without getting bored at all, and that is relatively rare. For recent albums alteast. To me, it's kind of a record of 2 halves - the first half is more akin to their soundtrack records, and the 2nd half is more old-skool mogwai. There isn't a hard boundary there at all, but that's the feeling I get. Because I'm an old fan who loves their early records, I find myself gravitating to the 2nd half as being more preferred, but I really like the 1st half too. Current favourite is the closer, which I think is just superb. I'd love them to drag out the noisy middle bit for 10mins instead of just a couple, but that's probably just me.
I'd like to get a high quality copy of the audio from the Tramway gig, as I'm keen to give the engineering in a "live" setting a thorough examination and compare it to the record, but I haven't seen anything like that floating round yet.

I'd like this too. Unfortunately the video was hosted on YouTube and the audio quality there is fairly low. I'm hoping it gets put on Bandcamp later in the year or something.

And is it in lossless format, or just mp3? Just mp3, unfortunately. Thanks for confirming this. I don't understand why they'd only make mp3 available. Surely enyone who can afford to buy vinyl nowadays is buying it because they appreciate the sound quality? So why would they be happy with mp3? Happy I called it right and bought the 2xCD package.

Deluxe Edition CD ✅ iTunes Digital ✅ Regular Cd & Kingston Gig Ticket ✅
Done my bit to help the UK #1 campaign.
I’m not sure how many listens I’ve had so far, but I just can’t resist sticking it on again when I finish a listen.
How lucky are all of these people supporting the chart campaign that they’re not only helping a great cause, but they’re also getting a bloody great CD as well!

I like looking for Mogwai reviews on YouTube. There aren't many for the new album at the moment, but this is the best one.

I don't even really know what goes in to chart rankings these days, but either way that's crazy. And perversely hilarious. No matter how strange it seems, big congratulations to the band are in order!
Even better because the album is so great. When this presumably causes a few new people to check this out, they'll be getting prime Mogwai.
