i remember emailing stuart years ago about the tuning for ithica, it's quite strange, kinda like a sonic youth tuning, i'll try and find it, it basically means the guitar parts can be played by barring your first finger up and down the frets to play the tune....
as for you dont know jesus, i thought it was just standard tuning but with the a-string dropped down to a g, to get that droning g going that goes right through the song....

i'm not sure if this is the official tuning, but nolman made an excellent ithica tab. the tuning (from low to hi) is D#-G#-D#-G-G-D#. tune low E down 1/2 to a d#, tune A down 1/2 to a g#, tune D up 1/2 to a d#, G stays same, tune B down two whole steps, and the hi E down 1/2 step to a d# (though this one can be optional this no notes are played on this string).

i found a scrap of paper with the ithica tuning on that i was emailed from stuart years ago, and it sounds spot on when you play it. low to high it's:
C# A E G# G# G#

then at ~(5.10) Guitar 1 and 2 go back into the main riff with some minor variations untill
Guitar 2~(6.04) plays the Gm chord (the one in Figure E)repeatedly and guitar1 plays the Bass note which is simply
e|---3--3--3--3--| a|---------------| d|---------------| g|---------------| b|---------------| e|---------------|
until ~(6.45) when Guitar1 plays
e|---------------------| a|---0--0--0---0--0--0-| d|--0--0--0---0--0--0--| g|-7--7--9--10--5--7---| b|---------------------| e|---------------------|
Notes:
It should be mentioned that guitar 3 is basically playing figure B most of the time however it also does almost all those weird sounds during the song when its not playing figure B. For instance the sound at ~(2.51) sounds like a way pedal being pressed up and down with the volume up and nothing playing, this is most likely Guitar 3 or possibly a 4th guitar being dubbed in. There is alot of stuff in this song past the ~(1.20) mark thats hard to make out but this is what i could make out. The best advice i can give you to make this sound good is to use no distortion at all, just a loud clean sound for all the guitars (except 3 which has alot of effects running through it, none of which are distortion)

you should really write your tabs like
e| b| g| d| a| e|
because i'm pretty sure most people are used to reading tabs that way. it's really confusing the other way.

^^ i hate that way of marking strings because if im learning a tab then im usually looking at the computer with the guitar in my hands, so doing it
E A D G b e
makes more sense to me since i down have to turn it upside down. The only way its done in reverse is because thats how sheet music makes their score lines. Actually i should note Nolman's ithica tab is in the upside down manner

with you don't know jesus, it makes it a helluva lot easier to play if you tune the a-string down to a g, and use this as your droning note as you play the melody. i'm sure it's what mogwai do as it's what they definitely do when they play it live...

I've tabbed out the intro to Travel is Dangerous. I might try and get the full song done, but I'm having difficulty picking out all the guitar parts once the vocals start. There's a 3rd guitar in there somewhere...

I wish we had tabs for... Ratts of the Capital We're No Here (but anything from Mr. Beast would be much appreciated) Tuner Lower Rage:Man The intro to We're No Here would be pretty easy, but things get complicated as one/all of the guitars are either incredibly lowtuned or (as I suspect) pitch-shifted down an octave (?). There's a seriously heavy guitar tone in that track... must be that Earth/ Sun o)) influence Ratts shouldn't be too much trouble and I'm sure I remember tinkering along to Rage:Man with an acoustic... Or maybe I'm getting confused with Burn Girl Prom Queen.

I can tab the beginning and end of Ratts if we don't have it already. I forget whether I worked these things out myself or if they're online already somewhere. Sadly I don't know any of the middle.
Also, we really need a proper place to put all these tabs. That Brightlight site is good but I've got loads of tabs that they haven't, I think from an older site called Ex-Cowboys.

Glasgow Mega-Snake Main riff only!
Ok.. calm down, this is pretty sloppy and doesn't sound perfect but it's ok. The notes are certainly not in the right places though it sounds kind of similar when you mask it with fuckloads of distortion! Feel free to try and amend it:
e-------------------8----------------0---------8------- B--8----------8----------------7----------------------- G------9--9-9-----9---9---9--------8---8---8--------8-- D----9----------9-------9---9 ---9-------9---9----9---- A------------------------------------------------------ E------------------------------------------------------

Bad ass riff anyway.

i think someone wanted the tab for tuner heres the chords you basically just pick the notes from them 2 parts 1st B G D (bar chords) 2nd B D G
And nick drake, it's basically a variation of the below riffs

I think I've made an improvement on the Ithica 27o9 tab. The tuning is spot on in the original tab but i've tabbed it a bit more accurately. The heavy distortion bit is hard to tab right though so I just put guidelines as to what's going on rather than trying to transcribe it directly. Copy/Paste this into notepad and it should look OK.

The Distortion Bit Kicks In Here It's hard to tab this part so the best advice I can give is to tremolo pick/slide/improvise on the 15/17/19/12th fret on both G strings
Then... Both Guitars play x4 Eb ----------------| G ----------------| G ----------------| Eb ----7-----7---0-| Ab --6-----6-----0-| Eb 4-----4-----4---|

Anyone ever tried working out the slide guitar/solo bit of Cody? The most beautiful part of the song!

Heelo everybody, I search some tabs of the last album "Mr beast", Glasgow mega snake, Travel is Dangerous and We're No Here ... please help me I have an other question about the delay effect Stuart use, I think he often uses two delay, one very short with a lot of repeat an an other one longer. Is anyone know the typical delay time of mogwai? Thanks Franck, France, Toulouse

I wish we had tabs for... Ratts of the Capital We're No Here (but anything from Mr. Beast would be much appreciated) Tuner Lower Rage:Man Ratts is pretty easy.. ** (i had the wrong key before) D -> C through most of the song... and the picking part is pretty easy as well.... if i wasnt so lazy i would tab it out for you.

Awwwwwwwww... don't be like that! J/K Is there any links of chords or tabs to this song, then? I mean, any revisions or new sites? I've googled (and read this thread) and found a few sites. Should I just use those? Eg. below: www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/mogwai/ratts_of_the_capital_intro_tab.htmI love this song!!!! I was just watching some online videos of it and I especially like live versions. Even if it takes me forever, I'll keep trying to learn it (I'm not any good! :-( )....
