I also assume some of the tracks will be the same as appeared on this demo cassette (taken from the discog (http://www.youngteam.co.uk/brightlight/eng/discog_misc.php): mogwai demos '98 ??/01/1998 guardians of fitba helps both ways young face gone wrong waltz for jo ex-cowboy cunt rollerball 7:25 root i can't remember sweet leaf
anyone heard this tape? rob? I can't remember it being discussed here, but my brain is probably getting addled in it's old age.
other tracks likely to appear: nick drake hugh dallas helps both ways (original) - probably not, but it would be great if this could be released.
and could we see their cover of don't cry released? i think probably not, but you never know.

I remember asking Stuart years ago if their ATP gig in 2000 could be included as a DVD as it was obviously filmed. But I remember the answer was that the footage rights was owned by someone else and it'd be expensive to buy.

i have listened to that demo of ex-cowboy a few times today and it is superb. am very much looking forward to this release. even though 9 of the 17 tracks are floating round, it still looks to be a great collection. and i like that the original version of helps both ways is in there too.
one thing that I did notice though was that I assume all the demo's come from the demo tape at the top of the page, however, the length of ex-cowboy is listed as 8:06 on the discog page, but the version on soundcloud is 9:12. could of course be a typo.

It's not the version from the tape. thanks rob. that makes sense now that I actually read the info. the demo tape is probably from the chem19 sessions and some of the reissue is from that session, but some on the release are also from the CAVA sessions (as ex-cowboy is) which is not the same as the chem19 session. it's all laid out there if I had actually bothered to read it carefully.

Correct Rob. It's not a demo. Those recordings were originally meant for our second album before we decided to record in America with Dave.

stuart, so what made you re-record these songs? I assume you weren't happy with the production in some way, or you just thought thought Dave could bring something better to the table.... or were you still writing new material which hadn't been recorded at CAVA? who produced these CAVA sessions?
love this shit.

anyone know if the download that goes with buying the boxset will be lossless? very keen to buy the boxset for this, but if i only get mp3 as the download, i shan't be particularly happy. will it change buy mind re: buying it? probably not, but in this day and age these things should be lossless.

Doesn't look like the label website has updated to allow for pre orders yet. I've been looking throughout today.

Ordered! Expensive little fucker for us in the US. But worth it. It was cheaper than the Rave Tapes box set! Either way, I'm glad to get my hands on this. My boyfriend picked me up the original CODY vinyl, while he was on tour a few years ago, but there only ended up being one record in the sleeve - soooo, I'm missing half the album.

I paid the big bucks for this too. that version of ex-cowboy is worth the full price alone! shipping was surprisingly cheap and with VAT taken off, wasn't quite as bad as I thought it was going to be. I had skipped the rave tapes boxset, but this I just couldn't pass up. And very pleased to see the inclusion of a lossless copy of the tracks with the boxset.

My email came a day or two after I placed my order. If you paid via PayPal, you could perhaps send them an email to check they've received your order, quoting the PayPal transaction number.
