Going to get some tickets for the Leeds gig. Not seen Mogwai since Bridlington Spa supporting the Manic's in 1998! Any idea what they played? Mogwai should do a tour of UK seaside resorts in 2011. I'm sure they'd go down a stom in Llandudno or Clacton.

There's a big following down at Southend-on-Sea But you'd stretch to Clacton if they couldn't fit Southend into the schedule, right? They are playing Bournemouth, after all. Maybe they should be sizing up some other retirement opportunities whilst they're at it. Skegness? Great Yarmouth? Torquay? Barmouth? Rhyl? Am I the only one who has 'It's Grim Up North' playing in their head whilst reciting that list?

No idea why I haven't been to see Mogwai since, I'm a huge fan and buy every release.

There's a big following down at Southend-on-Sea As much as i'd like to see them play in Southend. I'd hope it isn't the Cliffs Pavillion as I've seen a few people there & the sound is a bit shite. I remember going to see BDP there in the late 80's & KRS One walked off stage because of it. Well, that was his excuse! I don't think they've changed the speakers since then! ;D

The Chinnerys would be amazing but the sound is crap there too

I just grabbed a couple of tickets for The Sage, Gateshead after finding out it's in the main venue, Hall One. Although there seems to be an allocation of standing tickets available like there was at the Royal Albert Hall (is that right - I wasn't there?) so this might prevent the gig from being beautifully chat free and I assume might obscure the view of some seats. I'm about 12 rows back slap back in the middle so the sound should be excellent. It should be an interesting contrast to the Brixton Academy gig two days before. Just got to find someone to come with me now - will probably have to be a member of family... I think I might just go alone.. Check out the inside! And the outside!

Mmm, but can you figure out from those pics where the standing room might be without blocking the view of those on seats? Luckily, Mogwai aren't the most visual band in the world so I'll just be happy if it sounds half as good as the Queen Elizabeth Hall show.

Personally I've never been to the Sage but everyone I've talked to has mentioned it's amazing sound quality. I'm also a bit curious about what the standing/seating arrangement is. I have standing tickets, but like yourself, can't seem to figure out what the hall will look like on the date of the show. Also if you're going on your own then your more than welcome to join me and a few of my friends.

Yeah, Albert Hall had a standing bit front, but was totally chatter free. The crowd were incredible that night I thought. Such a contrast to the Somerset House gig crowd, which put me off ever going to a gig in London again!

hadn't got around to working out where to see them next february. Leeds and Manchester were options but saw those pictures and thought We'd head up for Newcastle. Never been, and that venue looks amazing.
Looks like the actual floor will be standing, but then the seating at the back (Level 1 A) is slightly raised up and so should be alright for seeing over the heads of people standing.
Wooooo!!

Without wishing to labour the point, look at this diagram. Now I have tickets for Level 1 Row L pretty much in the middle. So there is no way that all those seats from row A to W will be removed for standing. I think they will remove the first 5 or so rows only then a gap so they first row of seats can still see over them. The stage is quite high so it'd only need to be about a 10ft gap. I wish they'd just kept the whole thing seated. I don't really understand why they didn't.

I've never been to the venue, but judging by those photos they'll probably take all of the floor seating out like the RAH gig. Those pictures show some sort of classical recital thing going on, so probably no need for mic set ups etc, but Mogwai's gig will have to feature Front of House sound and lighting desks somewhere. My guess is back of the hall before row AA leaving the main hall free to stand...maybe...

If they take all the floor seating out then I struggle to figure out what my seat number means then. They can't have a diagram showing rows and letters then have you sit somewhere else. The fact is that the seats at the back are rows AA to FF so if I have a ticket that says Level 1 Row L it must be in front of that. Like I said, I have a feeling rows A - F will be taken out then a gap then the seats begin at H or thereabouts. Either that or standing will be at the back and sides. ;D
Ah well, we'll have to wait and see. Shame it's all such a long way off. Can't we have a small warm up gig in London next next month?

it's the three biggest cities, ATP must just have more interest/contacts in putting gigs on in those places. they do it a lot with UK tours
