Shipping cost was same for Special Moves Deluxe Boxset? I don't remember.
It will be send by Fedex or something like that, that explain cost maybe. I don't care i'm not afraid, we will have a nice stuff, like usually.

Is the box set exclusive to the band's webshop or will it be available in other shops?

oo-er! just ordered the box set minus t-shirt the site initially states it's £40 plus shipping, making a total of £47.50 BUT...the email confirmation gives the price as £36 plus costs (£43.50) ?

Yeah I got that too. Bit odd. Maybe something to do with the VAT rise? I wonder if it happens with any other of the packages too?

Right, I'm 99 per cent sure this is an Amazon fuck up, but they're offering the 5 disc limited box set for £8.99 pre order. I'm going for it and getting it paid for asap and we'll see what happens. Worth the risk, no?

Oh, here's the link if anyone else wants to grab it too. I've seen them make mistakes before on stuff on pre-order. Not sure whether they honour the deal though or just cancel the transaction.....

sadly, they will probably cancel the transaction. especially now that the cat's out of the bag and tons of people will start ordering it. it's hit or miss but i can't imagine Amazon honoring a price for (possibly) hundreds of orders and losing out on a large amount of money. on the other hand, had the link not been provided, the lucky few might have gotten the box set for that price.

Yeah I'd say Amazon will soon withdraw the box set for pre-orders, if they haven't done so already.

Probably shot myself in the foot with publishing that then! Ah well. Not my style to keep things like this quiet. We'll see what happens I guess.

Small wonder that it's Amazon's best-selling vinyl at the moment!!!!

They seemed to have wised up over at Amazon.uk....price now £49.99. Got my order in for £7.65 before the change. Let's see if i get an e-mail about the adjustment.

Hi all, Just a quick message about the shipping charges. As Spuur correctly points out above the high shipping cost is as a result of us using a guaranteed next-day courier service for shipping. We were keen that for an item such as this that the shipping should be both guaranteed and accountable. Regrettably a service like this is expensive.
I've checked quotes from the UK to mainland Europe myself for DHL, Fed-Ex & UPS based on the size and approx weight of the box and they all come in around the £30+VAT mark.
However we realise that this is expensive and understandably we've had a few emails on the matter so we're looking into setting up a standard shipping option for those who wish to use it which will probably just be regular post ie: it will not be a guaranteed service but hopefully it will be cheaper.
Thanks, Craig

I spotted the amazon misprice a few days ago. I kept quiet about it but ordered one too. I'm naively optimistic about them honouring it seeing as they've raised the price rather than closing the listing which I was half expecting them to do.
I also order direct from Rock Action. I'd love to hear from the label what difference it makes financially if we buy direct as opposed to from amazon or HMV. I'd be willing to pay that bit extra if I knew the band were seeing a bigger chunk of it. The big companies really can deliver when it comes to cheap or free postage on these big items though.

If you buy direct from our shop then the distribution fee and the cut that the shop takes stays with us so the only fee we pay is to the people who run the online shop. Basically the more people who buy direct from us the better. Its up to you guys however as we realise that the really big stores can afford to undercut most prices. SB

I guess I'm the first in the US to wonder about this and post?
I see that there is a SubPop Pre-order for the U.S. but it seems it's just simply a 2xLP version. No special goodies for us spoiled-arse Americans?

That's good to know Stuart. I like to try and balance my love of bargains and my genuine desire to support the art I love as best I can.
On a more cynical note, I'm really hoping the included CD/DVD comes in something a little classier than a cardboard sleeve. I must say I was a bit disappointed with the Special Moves CD in the supposedly 'Deluxe' box set being presented as if it was something that comes free with The Mail On Sunday. I'd at least like something with a spine so I can find it on my shelf. I really liked the deluxe CD version of Mr. Beast personally. Shiny.

I try to buy music at gigs as much as I can, because I guess an even higher cut goes to the bands that way? There's something really satisfying about going home from a gig with a record/cd too.

I try to buy music at gigs as much as I can, because I guess an even higher cut goes to the bands that way? There's something really satisfying about going home from a gig with a record/cd too. Depends where the gig is. Merch desk at a show in the back room of a pub - if the band's label are anything like honourable, they'll have sold them stock for the tour at cost price, so anything above the band's costs is going straight into the band's pockets (or more likely petrol tanks/stomachs). Obviously the band's costs will include having to transport the records around, so that £10 vinyl album you bought from that hip American band when they played to 30 people at that small bar in your town (yes, I'm thinking of you, Grass Widow) won't put much food on the table after they've paid to ship it in from the US. Merch desk at Academy venues or larger - band's take is markedly dented by the venue charging a percentage of merch take for the use of their facilities. I'd agree that there's something very satisfying about going home with music by the band(s) you've just seen.

Whole album has leaked now, noticed this morning it's all over the place. :/ Bought the deluxe package anyway, and got tickets for Gothenburg & Stockholm gigs! Can't wait to hear the new songs live..

Can't be fucked with listening to leaks. It'll be so much better to wait until release and listen to it properly.

I admit I have listened to the leaked songs. There are some good songs, although nothing on the album 'blows me away' (although Lionel Richie has potential). The rest of the album sounds so-so. I am a little worried about Mogwai. IMO The Hawk is Howling, while it had around 4-5 really really good songs, was the worst overall Mogwai album (still very good, don't get me wrong!). And I don't think Hardcore is anywhere near as good, at least after a couple of listens. Maybe I was just too spoiled from the earlier albums.
And Mexican Grand Prix? Eh...I think I am already trying to forget that they created that song.
