Hmmm. "New" album consisting of two tracks that have featured in every Godspeed show since 2002, and a couple of 'drones'....not much to get excited about there?
I'll be saving my pennies for the Savages 12", amongst other things. There have been numerous records far more deserving of your time and money in the last few months - the recent Six Organs Of Admittance record, for example.

Well I haven't been lucky enough to see them live, unfortunately, so this was a no-brainer for me.

Does a recording exist of the infamous gig when I think Stuart, Barry and John joined Godspeed for a improv jam?

I've never come across a recording. I'm sure it'd be worth hearing out of curiosity if nothing else.

It says that the songs were recorded in 2011. You probably meant that they already existed in live versions back in 2002?

I've no idea whether they're old or new recordings.
Hmmmm....reformed band releases 40 minutes of 10-year-old music...or currently-active band of similar vintage releases 37 new songs on a series of eps over 6 months between albums....navel-gazing staleness vs a desire to keep moving....

"Mladic" = "Albanian", "We Drift Like Worried Fire" = "Gamelan". They also used to play one of the drones ("Hope Drone") on the previous tour. archive.org/browse.php?collection=GodspeedYouBlackEmperor&field=yearI'm going to see GY!BE on Wednesday. I'm not overly excited but I'd say they're one of these bands that everybody who is into this genre should have seen at least once. Moreover, the last time they were here they had been coming up on the short end of the stick against iLT.

What's the sample in the beginning of "Mladic" taken from? Y'all know the "with his arms outstretched" bit? Is it real or is it from a movie?
Thanks!

Yeah that was a bit of a cheeky guess Christian! I don't know where the sample is from, I'm afraid.
