I'll have to see what shift I'm working before I get a ticket. Hope if gets repeated if I can't make it.

After countryssun mentioned the iTunes snippets, I couldn't resist.
Drive the Nail sounds EXTREMELY promising.

Pat Stains is absolutely fantastic. Starting to get really excited for this. The three new tracks really feel like a major step up from the last few albums (which each have moments, but maybe haven't held up as well as their other stuff)

Did I read somewhere that the band will be doing a live BBC session after the album release or was it just wishful thinking?
Thanks

Did I read somewhere that the band will be doing a live BBC session after the album release or was it just wishful thinking? Thanks Yes a MAH live session on Tuesday 16th This is good news. 6Music seems to have pretty much given up on live sessions in the last year. I presume Marc Riley's studio in Salford must be too small for social distancing as he hasn't had anyone in session for months. Even the overnight rebroadcasting of old sessions and live sets has been curtailed. The Classic Concert hour-long slot has disappeared completely, and the 6Music Live Hour has been on an endless loop of reruns of previous programmes since last summer. Apparently there's a bigger audience for mixes than actual performances now. Cheaper to produce, presumably, but a great shame. 6Music daytime programming has become bland to the point of unlistenability in the last year. The one shining beacon remains Gideon Coe's show. Tom Ravenscroft also worth a listen, and the weekend evening programming (Iggy Pop, Freak Zone etc).

Surprised there isn’t any chatter from the concert stream tonight. This album is excellent start to finish. Really enjoyed Midnight Flit (with a very Boards of Canada vibe at the beginning) and Ceiling Granny. I think this album may be as strong start to finish as Hardcore and hope that the live shows feature most if not all of the tracks.
(assuming live shows occur that is!)

Very pleasantly surprised to find the stream is still accessible 14 hours after it was posted, despite the FAQ suggesting it would be a 3-hour viewing period.

Very similar guitar sound running through some of these tracks - most of Supposedly We Were Nightmares, and the middle part of Drive The Nail, and the middle of Ceiling Granny for example.

Sadly couldn't get to the stream of the gig. Hoping for a repeat, or that it might be made available by some other means. Good to read the favourable responses. Not too long to wait now.

First listen to everything except Dry Fantasy. Absolute favourite first time through - Midnight Flit. Half a dozen plays now. Favourites are the three singles and Midnight Flit. Looking forward to hearing the actual album. Apparently shipping notification emails have started to pop up for some purchasers.

Last track It's What I Want To Do, Mum really cutting through now as well. Long, slow and heavy.
It would be really interesting to know who came up with these songs originally. I'll hazard a guess that this one might not be Barry.

Yes, I also got the email. Glad to have a chance to watch it a couple more times, on top of the twice I have already since it was up for a day or more extra. Looking forward to comparing it with the studio album.
There's an amusingly bad review of it on Popmatters ('they just stood there with lights flashing! And Herod was way better than the new stuff because they made a bunch of noise.'). Then when I later read their glowing review of the new album, it made me do a triple take on realizing that it's actually by the same guy (who also appears to be fan).

This is absolutely brilliant. Their best LP for a long time, easily.
Just hope it's not too long before we can see some of these tracks live.

Just got my box. Artwork close up is fantastic. Coloured vinyl is lovely. Best looking package since Hardcore, I reckon.

Ceiling Granny is superb. Best track they've recorded in years.
Best album since Hardcore... in my opinion, loving it.

I also got my first listen to the album proper last night. I also loved it. Tremendously strong set. I was half-expecting the studio versions to lose a bit of their power in favour of a more 'produced' sound. Quite the contrary.
I'll also say that hearing it all for the first times via live recording/film last week, and then now having the record and the live versions has been an unbeatable way to dive in head first.
Hard to pick an early favourite out of this, but 'Midnight Flit' seems sure to be a live staple, whenever that can happen again.
