As for me, I’ll take the TGV to Zurich and jump off the roof of Dignitas And leave a note saying: “Here lies the bloke, the only bloke in Harpurhey Who wasn’t at the Lesser Free Trade Hall” or A phallic watering can, a packet of Triffid seeds, an ice rink for a model village, crucifixion nails, a pair of polo-necked jeans, a jar of language pills, a jigsaw of Nazi war criminals, post-apocalyptic Allen keys, a written curse of a witch from Oswestry, a signed photograph of former players’ agent Eric Hall – monster, monster. I fled towards the church looking for sanctuary; found only Spencer The Halfwit, sniggering the 46th Psalm. As always with HMHB, a record littered with laugh-out-loud moments and some fine tunes. I hadn't seen them for about 15 years before January this year. Great show, nearly two hours.

is that the new one? i like music of bleak origin Sent from my GT-I8150 using ProBoards Yeah, it is Neil. And very good too. A bit more doom to this one and some good vocals throughout too. I had them up here in Preston the other week and a friend recorded this for your perusal.

The Yummy Fur - various tracks including particularly Plastic Cowboy - haven't heard this in ages, fantastic.

On vinyl or cd? Do you recommend buying the reissue?

The remasters is a double CD, one from the original release and the other from the initial analogue tape. Not much to choose between them, to be honest. They both sound good, but if you're not a big fan this release might be a bit of an extravagance. But I like it.

Good album, too. I saw them play last week and they were dead heavy!

I don't know anything about Slabdragger, but they're name conjures up a pretty strange visual image. And it's strangely.... not alliterative... but something. Me:

Slabdragger are described as stoner or sludge metal. I'm not entirely sure what those terms mean, but they are immensely loud, hard and heavy. You should be able to find something on YouTube.
That Can album is marvellous, by the way!

Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff Plus Early Singles After reading a bunch of tweet from Martin Bulloch about Mudhoney I finally decided to have a go at Mudhoney. Of course, I've heard about them since the "grunge" days but found them too dirty. That's no joke. Silly me. Excellent stuff btw.

Easter - Innocence Man Very early plays but I'm really enjoying this. crumpsallpipedreams.tumblr.com/Lots of nods to 90s US indie, really great sound (the sleeve notes include a comment on having avoided engaging in the loudness wars) and some of the tracks appear to have been left deliberately open-ended, as though they may well take on another life when played live. The two shortest tracks on the album are here: soundcloud.com/easterband
