Anyone think they are a possible announcement for the Australian Big Day Out in February?

i hope like hell that there is no big day out announcement. surely the band would not subject us to that! the date is january 18. i'd much rather the aussie atp - makes more sense music-wise too.

I have read this in PS forum:
MOGWAI
6 Feb. '09 Madrid (Spain) 7 Feb. '09 San Sebastian (Spain)
Is it true?

I haven't seen those listed yet, but they make sense in the run of dates so far:
Feb 2 malaga, spain teatro cervantes - 9 bologna, italy estragon - 10 milan, italy rolling stone - 12 strasbourg, france la laiterie - 14 reims, france la cartonnerie -
If they're staying in Spain from 2nd to 7th Feb, that would make it the longest Spanish tour they've ever done.

14 reims, france la cartonnerie - This is a really nice venue - I wish they'd managed to find somewhere like this for one of the UK dates!

march 7-9... thats kinda outside the window isn't it? but i suppose it means it might be more of a full tour since they'll be heading all this way instead of piggy backed on japan. so fingers crossed for a NZ show or 2 or 3!!

I can't see them visiting Australia twice in three months, in fact the festival probably has something in their contract which prevents them from doing so. So you may be in luck...

Thanks for the Aussie dates Rob. That's a shame about NZ. Virgin Blue maybe?

I hope they'll be able to fit the rescheduled North American dates sometime in January... Would hate to have to wait all the way till april or later...

At a guess (my favourite sport) and based to some extent on previous form:
Jan - Japan/other far east Feb - Europe March - Australia April - UK May/June - US July/August - festivals September - back in the studio to get another album ready for Spring 2010
Some of this may be wrong, but let's hope not!

I'm guessing (again!) that the weather may be a factor in January? The cancelled shows were in areas which tend to get hit pretty badly with snow? I'd be surprised to see US and Japanese shows in the same month.
