I think anyone who is devoted enough to the band to post on a message board dedicated to them is more than likely going to buy the album

i just want to say this:
* i don't know the members of mogwai. * i hate it when i read about album leaks and i buy songs rather than stealing them. * i will delete any links that contain mp3's of the new mogwai album * or posts or maybe even ban members if they can't adjust to my rules at this forum.
please, thank you.
ps. i can tolerate people downloading from sites like soulseek, but i will not tolerate any kind of links. cheers.

not being a downloadist myself, I shall certainly be buying the single and album when they get released I'm quite happy parting with cash when the music is so deserving

ps. i can tolerate people downloading from sites like soulseek, but i will not tolerate any kind of links. cheers. You're right, it's a tricky issue, and one that comes around with every new album that's released these days - they all get leaked in advance. I remember the exact same discussion and issues on the Sigur Ros messageboard pre-Takk. They took a similar approach - download links for the album tracks were deleted. The other issue will be the first fan-reviews may start appearing in the next few days, so you may want to suggest people post any pre-release reviews in a separate, clearly-marked thread, so people who want to avoid reading any spoilers can do so.

to be fair its not a stolen or leaked copy, just a rip of a radio airing. still illegal though... just go to the link on the frontpage and listen to the show

fuck, thats really soon. i spose the album has been finished for a little while and we all know mogwai security isn't the tightest. Fingers crossed this leak can get some momentum going behind it, if there are tons of fans raving about how fucking awesome it is then it cant really do mogwai too much harm, i dont think leaks really effect sales of post rock artists

as far as I'm aware, Mogwai are fairly tolerant about leaks, at least comparatively, but they're never going to be anything less than irked about their music being available for free on the Internet.
I won't risk giving a 'pre-release review', but I am more excited for the Dublin gig than ever now.

I had no intention of posting links to anything. I just wanted to spread the word that it was out. Y'all do your own homework.
I NEEDED THIS RECORD! I've been scouring my sources 2-3 times a day since it was it was announced it was finished. Of course I'll be buying the album when it's released, I just have a kinda-obsessive-compulsive-type-thing when it comes to the 'Gwai. I even flew to spain to see them play Benicassim (AND got to meet them, Jeez were they freaked out?)

if i may discuss this,
i think if works like this: download a album you aren't sure of purchasing (mr. beast is not one of these, me being a huge mogwai fan, i usually buy all of their albums they put out) download it, if you like it, buy it, if you don't, save your money. simple as that.

i have just listened to the new mogwai album off a bootlegged copy, and i was wondering if anyone else that has listened to it has noticed that "friend of the night" sounds...really...funny. I think it may be corrupted. Am I the only one with a messed version? All the other songs sound fine.

post in this thread if you want to discuss certain songs from mr beast. do not post here unless it's spoiler free. if you post spoilers it will be deleted. thank you. from now on this thread is about the mr beast album, not the leaked one.

I posted this in the other 'spoiler' thread - thought I needed to (by the way, I'm not sure that anyone is gonna be necessarily that annoyed by finding out other's opinions of details of the album are they? Who really on this forum isn't reading the other thread?
I'm actually really not interested. I adore Mogwai as much as the next person I assure you but I want to hear the record as it is supposed to be heard. Above you write about 'dodgy' sounding versions of tracks - don't want to hear that. I'll wait till the ICA gigs and then then the proper release.
