I have too much pride to consider being a proper groupie, but they're a side of being a fan that i find so romantic and endering. How they idolize and really fall in love wiht the band members.. I guess there's also the ugly and embarassing side to it, wich might be bigger than the romantic one..

The band do not have groupies. they are all either married or in serious relationships. Interesting that somebody read that they had groupies because in all of the press I've read pertaining to groupies it was to say the opposite. THEY DO NOT HAVE GROUPIES!!! They're wives are babes too (well the couple I've seen anyway) Why would they risk that for some skank?

wait a minute: I thought I was a groupie. But does the fact that there are no groupies mean I have to turn in my t-shirts and bootleg recordings? ;D

it's not a 'bootleg' if you're allowed to record it.

And yet if you don't record it you don't have any recordings. Who said anything about being or not being "allowed" anyway !?

Whether your group attracts groupies or not is an entirely different question to whether your group partakes of any salacious invitations from groupies.
Therefore it's a likely Yes, to the first and an almost certain No to the second.. .. ..

Although we'd like to think of the Mogwai boys as sex-gods of the highest order, I fear the answer to the first question above is 'No'. To quote Barry (from Mogwai), when he was asked this question on the Q&A: Q: I love your music! It evokes such beautiful things deep within me. Any of you boys single or need a cute young American Groupie to Grope? A: I think this may be the first offer of sex from a fan. Barry

And yet if you don't record it you don't have any recordings. Who said anything about being or not being "allowed" anyway !? the world 'bootleg' has a negative meaning. "To produce, distribute, or sell without permission or illegally: a clandestine outfit that bootlegs compact discs and tapes. " mogwai are fine with people recording the shows. they don't want people selling them. if they give permission for people to record and give the ok for them to be distributed with the agreement that they not be sold (mogwai is hosted on archive.org), how are the live recordings classified as 'bootlegs'? it's just a negative stereotype that people that record shows have to deal with because people are just ignorant of things and a lot of people that trade shows only perpetuate the continuation of said viewpoint/stereotype by using the word 'bootleg', giving arbitrary titles to shows and feeling that making/having artwork for said shows is obligatory.

Jeesh! A little joke gets misconstrued and then look what happens. For the record, I don't actually own any t-shirts or CDs of live performances, whether legally recorded and traded or unethically sold by some "bootlegger!"
I think groupies are pretty silly, and I think questions about groupies are pretty silly, so I was just making light of the subject in the same way as most of the people who've commented in this thread.
A sense of humor and perspective is important here, boys and girls!
