Haven't listened to recording, other than a few snippets, so unsure of exactly how it came out. Managed to go through gig without talking, which unfortunatly wasn't the case for a number of attendees! Will put this link in the recording thread as well. No Rano Pano? Bizarre...
I must say I'm a bit disappointed that San Pedro and GSTDP seem to be on the "play every show" list - they are fine songs but they arent the standout tracks on the new album by any means. Still I cant complain too much - they are playing a good chunk of new songs every show

Doesn't look like Too Raging is going to get played live too often - once so far.
You're Lionel Richie is also noticeably on the slide - three times in the first six shows and nothing since.
Death Rays has popped up occasionally but far from regular.
The other seven tracks seem to be either constants or very regular so far.

I think San Pedro is kinda boring on record, but it ate my face in Dublin last night. All of the 'faster' songs work better live, esp. Mexican Grand Prix with Sutherland singing.

Can anyone tell me what the last song they played last night in Dublin was before the encores?
Cheers

Im also hoping Death Rays and Too Raging to cheers get more airings, they seem to be the standout tracks on the new album. Certainly better than GSTDP which is unfortunately the first Mogwai track I can honestly say i fecking hate.

Agreed - Death Rays and Too Raging are stand out tracks. When I listen to the whole album I really like GSTDP where it is sequenced, but I don't often find myself listening to it by itself.

Comment from a Belfast show attendee:
"For Rano Pano, Dominic was on guitar and Barry seemed to be providing the bass from his keyboard setup. Dont know if thats normally how they play it or if they were trying something different."
Anyone confirm this?

Agreed - Death Rays and Too Raging are stand out tracks. The show posted on the other thread indicates that Death Rays is even better live than it is on the record (and I thought it was the stand out track there).

From watching that San Pedro in Belfast video (linked above) it looks like the venue is small, and less than busy? Is this right?

ATP, Asbury Park NJ - 2nd October so - a mix of speculation and previous form: European festivals over the summer, plus Fujirock North American tour September/October Japan/Taiwan/Singapore (and possibly Australia?) late Oct/Nov European dates through Nov/Dec leading up to the Glasgow show on 22nd Dec who knows?

Hi guys, my first post. Been a Mogwai fan since Young Team. Fav album CODY.
Anyway i attended my first mogwai gig last night at Bournemouth and thought i'd give you the low down.
Not massively busy but enough people to have an atmosphere.
They were great and played roughly the following.
White Noise (much better live than on the album, also had a guy playing violin on this) Rano Pano killing all the flies(awesome) Letters to the metro San pedro I'm jim morrison (the violinist joined in on guitar here) Helicon pt 1 (stuart messed up the intro to this and they had to start again, he also played bass on a couple of songs) (a song i didnt recongise, but quite fast with burns on guitar) Lionel Richie two wrongs friend of the night they finished with mexican grand prix. got a good reaction and is again better live than on the album. the violinist sang on this
Encore: George square (stuarts vocoder wasnt really working properly) Mogwai fear satan
I think that covers it but there may have been others i've forgotton. nothing from CODY and no hunted by a freak.

Just realised what the song was that i hadnt heard before. It was Hasenheide and that was the song stuart got the intro wrong on and they had to restart, not helicon

Comment from a Belfast show attendee: "For Rano Pano, Dominic was on guitar and Barry seemed to be providing the bass from his keyboard setup. Dont know if thats normally how they play it or if they were trying something different." Anyone confirm this? From the few live vids I've seen of Rano Pano, Dom is def playing guitar. This makes sense as there are three distinct guitar parts playing the same riff entering the song one after another, and playing throughout. Regardless of whether the bass on the album is from a synth, it makes sense for them to do this live instead of cutting out a guitar part. I was speculating whether Luke might play one of the guitar parts or the bass live while on tour, but haven't heard any mention of this.
