hi! i have to say i'm very disappointed of the new album. in my opinion just 1 (one!) good song: friend of the night. the other tracks are boring. tracks two reminds me of muse (and i don't like muse! ). i miss great songs like "mogwai fear satan", "x-mas steps" or "ratts of the capital". but i'll buy it - and i look forward to see them live in hamburg (25.4.'06). maybe the new tracks are better live?

You must be the only person in the world that thinks "Glasgow Mega-Snake" sounds like Muse. You must hear it more times, i think you will change your opinion. I think it is one of the greatest mogwai songs. The more i listen the new album the more I like, it contains a lot of great songs, but I only dislake it is an only 40 minutes album. In my opinion it would be ridiculous that mogwai make in every album one or two epic songs like "mogwai fear satan" or "like herod". These songs are made already and it have no sense they would continue making the same kind of song (the japanese band "mono" make it, but I think Mogwai is a more trascendental band). I like Mogwai so much because no one of their albums is the same, they try so hard to make progress, and I think there are not many bands in the world that make this. I understand when someone says "i don´t like the new album" but we can´t forget this is the 5th album of a great band that contains almost 6 great songs. Only for this, I am happy. By the way, "Emergency trap" is going to be my favorite song of the album, it reminds me the guitars of Sooyoung Park, guitarist of the best band of the 90`s, Seam.
Sorry for my english, guys, i´m a spanish fan of mogwai.

Can't think, and it is really bothering me what the vocoder bit in Acid Food reminds me of: something something across the airwaves (Probably not singing that but that is what it makes me think of)....... Anyone help?

And I really love this album. I love Mogwai so much - I am listening to I Chose Horses now and it is simply wonderful. For me the band just radiate total perfection in very much most of what they do - this Horses track for example is lovely, so beautiful. And as I write \we're no her comes on - it is immense. The new album at this time is the best they have done, I would LOVE Friend of the Night go into the British UK single charts, weeh, that would be class.

I'm just a little disappointed so far.
I absolutely love Mr. Beast, but I haven't seen Auto-Rock on a single setlist. If they don't play it in NYC, I'm gonna be slightly disappointed...but they'll probably sonically rip my face off, so I won't care too much.

I imagine it'd take Martin some convincing since the drumming is so basic

For those of you who still can't find a copy, I suggest you quit soulseek and just use bittorrent. I found a flawless copy of the album on isohunt (a bt tracker), and it still had plenty of seeders.

how can you like ratts of the capital and not like "we're no here". they're similar just that we're no here is more powerful.
i've been giving it repeated listens everyday, i love it.

It's such a powerful song, I think I'd stuff my ego and just pound the crap out of those drums.

I think there's some merit to the McGee comment ("best art rock album..."). I think after hearing a comment like that, combined with all of the other hype, die-hard mogwai fans--everyone on this board--are approaching mr beast looking for the greatest mogwai album yet. Imagine, though, we were hearing mogwai for the first time, maybe even post-rock for the first time. Then don't you think we might approach this album as the "best" of something? Now, I understand Alan McGee has probably heard a fair deal of both mogwai and other post-rock bands, but what I'm getting at is that I think he's coming to the album from a different perspective than most of us.

Im sure the real reason is that the album isnt actually officially out yet, i think they played about 5 songs from HSFHP before it came out but i dont think they played the entire thing to keep it a surprise for those who havnt heard it yet

I like your new idea better. I should be seeing them on March 6th...a day before it comes out in the states, oh please oh please i hope they play it.
