Normally we'd remove this sort of thing, but this has been given away free by their record company so no harm done.

No, leave it - the label have given this away so there's no potential issue with it being linked from here.

It is SUPERB
Had a great recordstore day again. It really takes you back to those Mondays when you (it wasn't just me was it?) anxiously went into your local store eager to snap up a limited edition.
I must admit it's the first time I have EVER waited three goddam hours to get into a record shop but coming away with a £120 worth of lovely limiteds - everything I wanted apart from Moon Duo St Deluxe and The Wake boxset (all of which apparently didn't turn up there). Banquet is my new favourite record shop !!!
salem remix of Interpol = just wondrous..
PLEASE be warned that shops aren't allowed to sell stock online for a week - probably a v bad idea as ebay will go crazy whilst shops still have stock. If you know anyone near Kingston ask them to have a look in Banquet coz they had loads of things even the Radioheads that sold out elsewhere.

Had a great recordstore day again. It really takes you back to those Mondays when you (it wasn't just me was it?) anxiously went into your local store eager to snap up a limited edition. It was always Friday after work in Birmingham, particularly if you were one of the regular big spenders in the shop in question. Stock boxes getting opened and priced ready for 'release day' on Monday.....a few copies of key releases used to disappear over the counter... I've yet to do the whole Record Store Day experience. The idea of queueing up to not be able to buy what you want seems a bit pointless?

I get what you mean about fruitless queuing up - there were a couple of more mature gentlemen in front of me clearly less than impressed about the swift disappearance of Beach Boys and Rolling Stones releases. Ironically, modern day technology had alerted the queue via twitter some 1.5 hrs earlier that these were no longer on sale - but we didn't explain (later) as this would have compounded the pain you suspect...
I had a decent conversation with a chap in the queue (3 hrs does that for you) but provided you have selected a good enough shop you should be able to land most of the items you want. It was a good experience although had I joined the queue at 11.30 rather than 10.00 - i Would have only lost perhaps 20 mins as the queue wasn't getting much bigger.
I think the Record Day thing helps keep many shops afloat which is a good thing - it also points the way forward for physical music to exist. Records must be sought after items nicely packaged and there will always be a (limited) market.
I still smart about not getting a Mogwai / Fuck Buttons anywhere in London on the day last year but this year unless someone scalps me for a Moon Duo 7" or Wake box set I'm doing well (Banquet weren't given either of them yesterday although they were due) Reading badly needs a Record shop - and I don't count the soon to die HMV. Maybe when they go there will be an opening for someone. (HMV really are thick - whoever runs them needs their bumps felt. They stop stocking vinyl just when this is the saviour of some shops they sell secondhand games yet don't recognise the market for music! The bulk of their CDs are avilable online at their own website for £3 cheaper. Jeez.)
Old record days became Fridays for me too Rob as I knew the staff well in my local record store and they were offered ridiculous deals to get singles into the charts. Those really were the days! Now I pay £15 for a Joy Division 12" (mind you the unreleased version of In A Lonely Place in rehearsal is a beautiful beautiful thing)....
Still, back to my Esben remix!

A mate of mine of similar vintage was ranting about how the shop he went to had opened 15 minutes earlier than advertised as the queue was getting too big. He still spent £150 though, so the marketing hype is obviously getting through somehow. I got a Mogwai/Fuck Buttons 10" last year...the shop one of my other mates went to couldn't sell them and let him have two... ref your earlier point about shops not selling stock online - I'm afraid Normans broke that one at 8am yesterday, they put a list of all the RSD releases they had in stock online and then sold most of them by lunchtime.

I suspect they could be in big trouble for that. I gather it was a strict condition of this year's participation - I won't dob em in though...
Shame cos Normans are good people they sell things at decent prices and are probably my fave mail order company.
Did the St Deluxe 10" make it out anywhere? I was curious about that despite most of their stuff not being quite to my taste.

I haven't seen the St Deluxe 10" advertised anywhere, but several labels have commented how hard it's been to get vinyl pressed in the last few weeks due to the RSD spike in demand.

Further comment on this from Phil at Normans: this isn't true. We had 4 titles from labels which weren't official RSD releases so we could list them up. 3 of which are still available and 1 sold out this morning. We do have some other RSD releases but we're complying with the rules and selling them on the 23rd
Apologies for my previous misinformed posting.
