Gonna be really tough to beat:
"Oh! How the Dogs Stack Up" "Ex-Cowboy" "Chocky" "Christmas Steps"
Yeah I know "Oh!..." is only like 2 minutes long, but the 3 songs that follow it are utterly incredible. Plus I think "Oh!..." sets a good mood for the 3 songs that follow. Too bad I can't get "May Nothing....." in there, but I am limiting this to 4 song stretches.
I can't find a good one from Young team...I don't care for Radar Maker or With portfolio.
"Ratts", "Golden Porsche", "I Know you are..", and "Stop coming.." is strong.
My second favorite is probably "I love you...", "Scotlands Shame", "Thank you...", and "The Precipice". Although I don't necessarily love "Thank you space expert", the other 3 songs can rival anything Mogwai has done, IMO.
I still think the clear winner is the 4 songs from CODY.

Any run of four tracks from the new album includes at least three great tracks?
Another strong contender: # 7:25 # half time # i do have weapons # time and a half
The first four tracks on Young Team? The second side of Rock Action?

I'd personally like to stretch it to best 12 song run an nominate the whole of Come on die young.
Either that or just take any run of 4 songs from that album as they all flow perfectly together.

Kids Will Be Skeletons Killing All the Flies Boring Machines... Ratts... This. Although you could make a case for any four song run in the first six tracks of "Hardcore".

Why, EP of course! First four tracks of Hardcore would be my second choice. The OP suggestion of "Ratts", "Golden Porsche", "I Know you are..", and "Stop coming.." would be my third

I love Radar Maker. So that makes for a good run of 4: Yes!>Herod>Katrien>Radar.
I do prefer the run of Cody>Helps>Y2K>Kappa more though. And I definately prefer the first half of CODY overall.
I've never really thought of any of the other albums in this way before.

also not a way i'd ever thought of listening to mogwai. a 1-2 punch definitely - like the outstanding cherry wave + fear satan, but 4...
but think the EP wins hands down on this contest tho.

May be a bit of a stretch, but best 4 song run on my iPod:
Last 3 tracks from Special Moves CD "2 Rights Make 1 Wrong" "Like Herod" "Glasgow Mega-Snake"
Going into download-only track 1 "Yes, I am a Long Way From Home"

Utter brilliance, and pure cannon Mogwai. I'm def a big fan of the I love you -> Precipice run. It's perfect on wax as it comprises both sides of the second record. Obv ep as well. Another personal standout is: Emergency Trap Folk Death I chose Horses We're No Here

i'm putting a vote for Happy Songs Kids Will Be Skeletons Killing All the Flies Boring Machines... Ratts... This combo gets my vote, even if Boring Machines doesn't do much for me. The other three songs are just fantastic.
