This afternoon's exchange of tweets between Dominic and whoever does Luton Airport's twitter account made me laugh. @dominic138 Right then. We've got a 6 hour layover in Luton Airport. Any suggestions of how to pass the time that don't involve alcohol or suicide? @ldnlutonairport @dominic138 We certainly wouldn't recommend suicide. Eating & Shopping will help bit.ly/ofvkNY After that... Angry Birds?! @dominic138 Well inevitably our Scottish genes have lead us to the pub. Now arguing about which order the Police Academy movies came in. Good times. @ldnlutonairport @dominic138 We hope you're having a good time at the pub! Do you fancy posting a picture for our airport photo album? : )

How big is Luton to hold an aiport and host one of the not so good teams in english football (no offence to any Luton fans here)?
I just googled Luton Airport and I figured out that Luton is part of London. Shite!

It's a classic example of the type of airport beloved by budget airlines - billed as London but actually at least an hour out of town.

Having lived near Luton for most of my life, I can confirm that under any circumstances, you should NEVER go there.

Luton is an absolute shithole, however the airport is pretty good.
It's not an hour out of London either.

So what's a nice city in the UK? In case I make it across over there some day. Birmingham? Portsmouth?

So what's a nice city in the UK? In case I make it across over there some day. Birmingham? Portsmouth? York If memory serves, there's an obscure law which allows shooting a Scotsman in York using bow-and-arrow (under the restriction that you're hunting him down within the city walls after dark on a Sunday). That said: Have Mogwai ever played in York (not necessarily on a Sunday)?

So what's a nice city in the UK? In case I make it across over there some day. Birmingham? Portsmouth? York and Bath are historical towns and really nice. Bristol, Leeds and Manchester are all quite good cities. Depends what you're after. Whisper it quietly, but Edinburgh is great too

So what's a nice city in the UK? In case I make it across over there some day. Birmingham? Portsmouth? Livepool has the most listed buildings of any city in the UK outside of London, and the highest concentration of grade A listed buildings (at the albert dock) of anywhere in the UK. Manchester stinks

A lot of people would recommend Brighton. I loved Glasgow when I was there a few years ago. I can just about recall York and Chester, from family holidays years ago. They're nice, too. And I'd echo the support for Bath and Bristol.

I live near Chester and it is indeed lovely, although pretty short on nightlife. Mogwai did play here once though supporting the Manics.
