So, unfortunately, Mogwai have become the latest victim of gear theft after an apparent break-in at their facility in Glasgow. Losses are thought to be around £15,000 so far. Here is a link to an article from Evening Times detailing some of the gear, including a beautiful, vintage Gretsch belonging to Stuart. bit.ly/tr2OM1 From Facebook: Here is the current full list of equipment taken from us for the people who cannot see full article in the evening times, sadly it may need updated when things become clearer:

Thanks for posting this. I saw Stuart's tweet at the start of the week about having lost a guitar but had no idea the theft was this extensive. Hopefully the circulation of information will help with recovering some of it.

how much of their total gear is this likely to represent?

In numbers, I don't imagine it's a huge portion. They did apparently purchase duplicates/backups of everything before heading out on tour this past year. That said, gear has tonal, and sentimental value, and can't always be replicated. I really hate hearing about this type of thing. Working musicians put good money into reliable equipment that will faithfully translate and help to create their sounds. The gear is almost as big a part of the music as the musicians themselves. Gear like this is worth way more to the musician than it will ever be on the street.
