Yes, I'd also like to know why on earth they chose that one. It's hideous!

And why are Boomhauer and Peggy from King of the Hill on it?

it's like divided into nine tiles, is it supposed to be like that? i think i know. one of the tiles is the cover of "friend of the night" single. i suppose the other eight are future covers for the rest of the eight singles of "mr beast". pity the song that gets excluded. sorry, didn't mean to be sarcastic there.

Other strange elements: The flowers on the right, The child (on the right under the table) could seem an angel, but the"wings" behind him are only the glass woman's knees i guess. Why The first character is touching the (x) legs of the suffering(?) "Boomhauer"?
Hmmm.... I can't find solutions all over the web...

These are ceramic tiles. I had a look at www.amandachurch.ca (this address is printed on the Friend Of The Night single) and the painting is also listed on her website as "Milkbar".

Sorry. At least we all know which sort of tiles to use for our next bathroom redecorations.

Following up from this, I've asked Amanda Church to do an e-mail interview for Brightlight. I'll be using this thread as the source of some of my questions - suggestions welcome!

sweet! looking forward to this!
i guess the only thing i'm curious about, other than the inspiration for or meaning behind the image itself is, how was she approached to do this or how did she approach the band?

Thanks for this, those were the sort of things I was looking for. This is the first time a Mogwai sleeve has been done by an artist rather than a photographer, I think?

Amanda Church states on her website that she loves Canadian indie bands. Are there any links to Montreal based post-rock bands (Constellation bands like GYBE!, ASMZ, ...)?
