Ok so with just a few days to go I thought it'd be good to start a thread for just this one night. I can't see that it has been put up before ( i didn't look ) but c'mon - us UK people might not see the lads live for a while it seems. I'm proper looking forward to it. It is the first time for about a year I'll have seen them play and I've loved the last two albums. What do you want to hear? What are you expecting of Codeine? or Chavez? or (other) (please no moaning about ATP administration. It's really fucking dull)

I'll answer my own question - I'd love to hear Jim Morrison, and pretty much anything off Hardcore. I always want to hear Fear Satan, and pretty much never, ever, want to hear My Father My King ever again (sorry, there it is).
Hearing Small Children In The Background at Somerset House was incredibly special for me - I'd love to hear it again, it's one of my favourite ever tunes.

Given that it's the only time I'm likely to get to see them play this year, I'm pretty excited too.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Codeine, probably more than Mogwai, if I'm honest. I reckon they'll understand. I won't mind what Mogwai play, frankly, but it'd be lovely to hear "Take Me Somewhere Nice" and "Golden Porsche".

I am looking forward to it, though it's a bit of a strange one because it now falls the day after a dear friend's funeral, also in London. So I have mixed feelings about my journey south this weekend. I fully expect I will be one of those overemotional fans Barry & Stuart were taking the piss out of in this interview www.vice.com/en_uk/noisey-vbs/mogwai#ooid=0xbGxzMjpIYFwVl-h0aXTeQ_TUPectxt I will cry! Thank you space expert had me bawling last week and MFS made me cry in a good way at the last gig at the Barras in December. Also I would v much enjoy hearing Thatcher live, or Christmas Steps again (only got it once last year) I did think I would do a mix CD to swap but not sure now cos got a lot else to sort out. We shall see...

If any of you who are going still have your BL badges, it'd be good to put faces to a few names on Saturday.

Sent from my GT-I8150 using ProBoards I am also greatly looking forward to Codeine, and Aidan Moffat/Bill Wells as I haven't seen any of that album played live yet. Something old and unusual (or Earth Division) in the Mogwai set would be nice but I think we can be pretty much certain it'll be drawn from the pool of 23 songs they've played live so far this year. www.youngteam.co.uk/brightlight/eng/gigs12.php

I'm trying to sell my ticket but probably won't...
Is it bad that I'm more looking forward to seeing Dirty Three seen as I've never seen them before?
Am I going to get banned now? ;D

Dirty Three live are great fun. Warren Ellis's stories and banter are legendary and make for a really special atmosphere.

For some reason they think it reads "bi" instead of "bl" I always find it a tad amusing...

I'm also very much looking forward to this! Missed seeing them at home last year because I left for overseas the day before they played. Coordinated my visit to Europe around this. Unfortunately my cousin unbeknowingly threw my tickets away when they were sent to her address (she gets a lot of crap mail for a previous tenant whose name also starts with T and also shares my last name). Now still waiting to hear back from the ticket sellers about whether the tickets can be duplicated. But I have a feeling I'll have to buy the tickets (totalling 3) again. Looks like a lot of extra shifts are waiting to be picked up by me when I get home Anyway also looking forward to Dirty Three and Codeine!

For some reason they think it reads "bi" instead of "bl" I always find it a tad amusing... err...that might be my fault. I think the black text version might not have the same problem as the white text version (?) I've also been asked the same. I guess wearing a badge that says ' Princess' on it (don't ask...a joke thing with a friend!) at the same time didn't help If I do them again, maybe I should put 'brightlight!' on it too... Do the band have any bl! badges? I think Stuart's guitar strap could do with one ;D

But whatever, it makes for a great conversation piece. I hope everyone who is heading out to this tomorrow/this weekend has a great time. Wish I could be there to party with you all!

I think we can be pretty much certain it'll be drawn from the pool of 23 songs they've played live so far this year. I don't know, that x'd out 'Sine Wave' on that SA setlist has me fairly hopeful. It's hard to imagine how it could have gotten on there aside from them considering playing it. If they added that and kept the few other songs they've put back into the sets lately, that would be amazing. And maybe give 'Hunted...' a rest in places they play a lot. It's been played at almost every show they've played for literally the past ten years. Great song, but jeeeeezz.......

Bring your pennies, folks - according to my mate who was there last night, it's £4.30 a pint! Ridiculous.
Sounds like there weren't many people there yesterday who'd bought weekend tickets, most folks seemed to have gone to the day. Apparently it was a sea of black too - not all that surprising given who was playing.

Yeah the choice of bands didn't immediately suggest a large crossover audience. £4-odd a pint seems on a par for London these days.
