" As with their soundtrack to the Zidane documentary, the band will be performing this soundtrack live at dates across the world throughout 2016." As I said on the other thread I spoke to Stuart via Twitter, he said that they'll not be many dates re the Atomic Release/Film Showings........ But this certainly doesn't rule out other Mogwai dates in 2016..... Here's hoping......

It said at the top of the thread. I was pretty shocked by it, hence the question at the end

It said at the top of the thread. I was pretty shocked by it, hence the question at the end That post said "as with the soundtrack to the Zidane documentary...." and was taken from an article specific to Atomic....i.e. the band will be doing some gigs playing the Atomic soundtrack this year in a similar vein to what they did with Zidane.

Going to go to both nights in Edinburgh. Had a look for hotels but far too expensive, just going to get the train back on the Saturday night and come back from Perth on the Sunday for the gig. Looking forward to it.

I can't decide where to go, was hoping for a Manchester or other northern England date ;/
Sim what makes you say that - will the sound be good do you reckon? I'm swaying towards it having donea couple of the 'standard' sit down concert hall Mogwai gigs on teh RT tour and found them a bit... clinical I suppose, IYKWIM. Much as I love Edinburgh, I'm not sure can stretch to doing it in peak festival season. So I guess that leaves Coventry. It would have to be an overnight stay though hmm... decisions....

I can't decide where to go, was hoping for a Manchester or other northern England date ;/ Sim what makes you say that - will the sound be good do you reckon? Well it depends where the concert is actually being held. I originally presumed it would be inside the cathedral (which was built after WWII with acoustics in mind), and might not even be seated as many of the chairs are not fixed... But then there's the ruins of the old cathedral where many summer classical concerts are held, thing is that last time a rock band tried to play here they ended up having to move it to another venue because the council limited the sound to 80Db. So who knows? Stuart?

I believe that Coventry gig will be in the main body of the modern Cathedral. Tickets are for front nave and rear nave - but aren't allocated. So it will be get there early if you want to be near the front. Acoustics should be good throughout, but with a flat floor obviously you won't see much if you're a long way back. I've got a Front Nave ticket.

Tickets purchased for both Edinburgh shows, bang in the middle of the front row of the circle both nights....... Also got tickets for Sigur Ros & Godspeed You Black Emperor. again front row of the circle.....
Am a patron of the festival so I can get tickets a week before the public sale, doubt the show would sell out anyway as the Playhouse holds over 3,000 people.....

Ah Jealous, exactly where I was hoping for - I'm guessing all the choice circle seats will be gone before the public sale, but hey ho, as you say should be able to get tickets regardless.

The tickets for Coventry say 7.30-10.30. I am guessing, since Atomic is only 65 minutes long, that we will be getting some sort of a Mogwai encore set?

|
|
Post by mrsrf on Apr 12, 2016 9:22:40 GMT 1
I was reckoning it'd be like the Zidane one. So probably a 7.30 for 8pm start, with a little encore. I think there were 3 songs in the Manchester one we saw.
