Saw the message on the board about the T shirts. I saw some guy in the crowd wearing one such T shirt who wasn't a member of Mogwai. I don't know whether this person was the creator of said T shirts but it could well explain what happened to the missing shirt.
At the time saw it and passed comment to my friend. I just assumed that it was some limited edition thing that the band had done. Twas very good.

Hopefully Barry has a sense of humour about it, cuz Mogwai are most definitely better off WITH him in the band. (To the creator) Good effort all the same!

I personally blame Barry for the terrible song titles, the vocoder songs, Rock Action and the lack of flute on MFS...

In all seriousness, I've been think a lot about Barry's role in Mogwai since I saw the Mr. Beast DVD documentary.
I'm probably imagining it, but he just seemed to be a bit overbearing, obviously running things, almost taking the role of band manager.
Of course, maybe they aren't being natural when in front of a camera. I was disappointed that Stuart was so boring and quiet. I wanted more of his weirdness like in the 'Take Me Somewhere Nice' doc. "Block yer eyes wi' concrete" and "when ye see a flock o' them, that's them makin' a hologram."
Is Barry taking the role of manager, damn fine multi-instrumentalist that he is. Was something about him scanning ebay listings for illegal Mogwai items, just rang a little weird for me.
Oh and if Barry is reading this, sorry, I don't mean to be nasty, just really want to discuss this with some people.
Maybe Mogwai are just destined to slide and become more soul-less over time, and I'm just instigating a witch hunt here out of desperation. They're still great.
What was all that about?

I have no idea. You appear to have too much time on your hands. Mogwai have actively discouraged ebay sales of unofficial items for some long time, so there's nothing weird there. The point at which Mogwai were likely to have "become more soul-less over time" passed years ago. Personally I'm greatly enjoying watching them go from being a bunch of kids making a racket to a bunch of adults making a racket. There ain't many bands whose fifth album is also possibly their best. Long may it continue. Enough already - I don't think we want to pursue this thread too far in that direction.

I was disappointed that Stuart was so boring and quiet. Recording an album that you yourself can be proud of is very tedious/draining - it can take alot out of you, and it's pretty stressful... especially when your bands fans are expecting to be absolutely blown away and are still picky dicks about the decisions you make for the album. Can't keep everyone happy all of the time. So it's probably the middle of the night and you've been slaving away in the studio all day and you are tired/hungry and so on.. and then you're expected to be spontaneously funny, loud with a video camera in your face?

I didn't think a discussion about Mogwai personalities and band dynamics would go down too well (due to the kind of posts in here already), but I said it anyway. Obviously what I said was very subjective and probably says more about me than Barry or any other members of the band. I don't really know them. But I also do know them in a way through, the music, press and now video interviews. What I should've said, was I was surprised that Barry seemed to be the loudest. I always thought he was the quiet one. It is funny though, that Rob would (possibly) see fit to cut short a thread in a Mogwai forum because someone wanted to discuss the personalities of the band.

It is funny though, that Rob would (possibly) see fit to cut short a thread in a Mogwai forum because someone wanted to discuss the personalities of the band. why? do they get the opportunity to discuss your personality in return? would they even bother if they did? what is there to 'discuss'? you made some incoherent points about barry, based solely on an opinion you've formed from watching a dvd. you're wrong. end of. the original story that generated this thread was funny. this nonsense is not. can i ask everyone to exercise some restraint when posting in this thread, please.

Cripes. No opinions allowed, is that it? Just the facts Ma'am. Just the facts. I wouldn't mind if you were attacking my opinions, but you seem to be taking issue with my even daring to post them, which I find strange. do they get the opportunity to discuss your personality in return? No. Don't be silly. Fame is one way. And if we didn't listen to their work and follow what they do, they wouldn't be famous. can i ask everyone to exercise some restraint when posting in this thread, please. Would you be opposed to continuing this discussion in a new thread. If not, then don't bring that up. Seriously though, if you just don't want the band's personalities discussed in this forum, then just say. It is your site and you can control it any way you want. Honestly, though I didn't want to cause shit, I'm just miffed by the hostility.

Right cunts. Burns here. I am far from the bandleader. There isn't one, but to suggest me is stupid. I am a panic merchant with no leadership qualities in the slightest. I do like the sound of my own voice though which is probably why I appear overbearing in the DVD. Also, is it weird to get people thrown off ebay if they try and profit from us illegally? I know the answer to be a resounding no. As the band, we are at the lowest level of money making in the music industry so to stop people selling things on ebay that are taking money from us is entirely justified and I won't hear any arguments against it. In my opinion, Mogwai were shit when I joined and I made them brilliant, by the way.
