that's an great idea for mogwai to celebrate their 10th anniversary. what do you guys think will wind up on the disc? i know that stuart or someone in the band requested fan shot footage of the band playing live. could be very interesting, don't ya think?

it will probably include the videos for Hunted By A Freak, Summer, Xmas Steps, and Stanley Kubrick. hopefully they will include the entire Take Me Somewhere Nice documentary. i kind of hope that there won't be too much fan live footage because i would much rather see professional live footage (a la the footage on the HSFHP DVD electronic press kits documentary).

Same here. There are a view live mogwai concerts out there that are professionally shot. What else could they include besides their vids, live footage and the documentary? Hmmm...

not sure how long it is. from what i can remember, it was screened in UK theaters sometime after the Rock Action tour. then they supposedly "shelved" the project.

as far as i remember at mogwai's european tour last year, the take me... doc was shown before some gigs. maybe i'm wrong, maybe it was winter 2001. i'd prefer a proper live dvd with the same great audio quality that was on the nine inch nails "all that could have been" dvd.

HOw long does it last? it's never been properly released. it's been shown at a few film festivals around the UK and Ireland. I saw it at the AB in Brussels last May, it was screened as part of a great night including sets from Mogwai, Part Chimp and Kling Klang. Very amusing, as you might expect, and certainly worth seeing if you're a fan.

I dont really mind whats on the DVD as long as they fill it up. Well I would like good picture quality during some live bits. Just so I can admire the lighting effects again. Lighting during my father my king is crazy, some people left epileptic I think. But yeh if they had that in it anywhere would be class.

I downloaded it off soulseek but I don't have the actual DVD. It's nothing too special, but it's good to have if you're a die hard fan and want collectible Mogwai stuff. Speaking of which, what is the most collectible Mogwai piece you all have? I have the Travels in Constants CD EP, which I've heard was only limited to 1000 copies.

I love you gusjux. By telling me Mono is on Temporary Residence (who make the Travels in Constant EPs), I went to the site where I was linked to the Mono website where I learned that they have a new album out in Japan, where I then went to soulseek and downloaded the entire thing. Again, I love you. Thanks!

I dont think its gonna happen dude! i think that if a live dvd will be made it would be of a fothcoming gig with new material on it to coincide with the new album. As a huge fan i would be happy with ropey old camcorder footage but i guess if a mogwai dvd will surface its gonna have to be of a high quality to really show just how good they are as a live act.
I would have thought that anyone who had any decent footage would have notified this forum or brightlight by now. Although you cant help wondering why they havent done any filming themelves.
It is frustraiting when you see some of the bands that have dvds out, im thinking s***e like the music, jet and embrace.
If there isnt anything on the dvd front at the beginning of next year we should all get a video camera each and make our own!

i shot some footage after the announcement for the 'looking for footage' came out last year. i'm sending copies in to the BL guys (have been meaning to do this for a while) so that footage will be available. i actually already gave a dvd of one of the shows to stuart (at the second show i filmed -- i had nearly 2 weeks to get it transferred and sync up a separate audio track to it, etc.)
next tour i am almost positive that we will have access to professional-quality video cameras for the toronto date. we filmed eits in 10/04 with one and i think we can manage to have at least 2 as well as a couple more hand-held cams. it shouldn't be that hard to coordinate, for me it'll just be a matter of getting the time off work to head up to toronto (i live 1000km away, but to work on such a project, i would make the trip again).
i do hope that the dvd comes out, but i think i agree that a professionally-shot dvd would be the best option, but having tracks from fan-shot material (earlier tours and such) as bonus material would be a good idea as well. i have no idea what hte plans are, but i have no problems helping out in whatever way i can (i'd love to film more shows).

Ive been looking for an excuse to visit canada, if you need someone to lug some equipment let us know! it was really funny lugging around several thousand dollars worth of recording equipment (between 3 people), weighing more than a couple hundred pounds, through the streets of toronto. it was equally amusing when we entered the venue with all the aforementioned equipment without somuch as a second glance.
