I enjoyed reading that. Most of us would agree completely with what barry said, only we are severely outnumbered in the world.
<Insert Country> Idol is the epitome of this bullshit mass consumption mentality. Here in Australia, the real music industry is of the opinion that these reality TV popstar shows are ruining the future of music here (and around the world) as they are geared for TV rather than for music. This method for nurturing new musicians just makes the whole end result disposable and market driven. A bunch of dumbarses with mobile phones text messaging their vote for who is the best wanker out of a bunch of wankers.
I can't stand it. I can't even stand to watch for the sole purpose of mocking it.

i hope i can hijack this thread just to include some golden words that barry wrote today on his band's website:
Hello There! My good mood is because of the football results last night. England got humped by Northern Ireland, royally. Scotland thrashed Norway. From Ian Wright's ridiculous patter after the England game, along with all the other patronising comments made towards N.Ireland, you'd think that England were entitled to win last night. The English media machine is an embarrasment to England and they must accept that 11 good players on a field doesn't mean that the team is any good. 1967 was a fluke and the sooner they realise this, the better. I, for one, nearly broke my leg whilst jumping up and down when N.I. scored. There was almost a small earthquake in Scotland while countless others did the same wee dance around their bonny living rooms. Please don't qualify England, give us a laugh. Barry
;D ;D ;D

the fluke barry's talking about is that in 1967 england won over northern ireland with 2-0. i think.

Northern Ireland 1, England 0
...and I really don't care!!! it was so inevitable - "we haven't lost to them for 40 years, etc."
does anyone have an idea about what, if any, tactics or formation we were playing? and why make a substitution five minutes after half-time?
I remain as clueless as the players and coaches
