Show and tell. I just discovered an NZ band called Jakob that got me thrashing around the living room early on a Monday morning, on the first listen no less. Given my hangover at the time that's good work, so I'm droppin the £20 to get from Brighton to London tonight where they're playing The Windmill in Brixton. I've heard the venue described as "a dirty little pub with a good vibe". Sounds perfect. I "picked up" their latest album 'Cale-Drew', which rocks and I heard their live set at the Underworld on Saturday was amazing, though they were only given 20 minutes or something so the venue could pack 4 bands in before the nu-metal tattooed booty shakin dance party. All hail the English live rock curfew. In lieu of played out adjective streams and comparative bullshiznit try this on: www.jakob.co.nzwww.underbelly.co.nz/vids/jakob/diffusion.zipI read somewhere that the beautiful writhing girl in that particular vid is the sister of dude from High Dependency Unit, another fine rock ensemble. Greetings, by the way, Mogwai forum.

Old thread I know, but I just saw these guys yesterday and they were pretty amazing - even for a quiet-ish afternoon show.
If any of you haven't heard NZ's Jakob, then follow the links above!
