This month, our world-renowned generosity continues as we bring you another 2-band bill of shockingly good quality for the price of a pack of viscounts and a king size pot noodle.
Tired Irie have been likened to rawkus marriage of Godspeed! You Black Emperor and At the Drive In. They were recently described in Joyzine as producing, "epic-sounding, intense and often beautiful fare". We like to describe them as like sitting in a bath of voles whilst having your forehead licked by Anneka Rice – not an entirely comfortable experience but one which you will certainly not regret. Current single, ‘Like. Gentle. Men.’ being further, more sensible proof of their genius.
Velofax always impress live. Beloved of John Kennedy and possessed of the kind of vim and vigour which recently saw the Montague's staff vaulting the bar to get down on the dancefloor last time we played their single; they are a punk-funk powerhouse. Recently described by the good people at Rough Trade as, "what The Rapture would sound like with raw DFA production", you'd have to be one turnip short of an allotment to miss it.
Only £2 this month, too! Make sure you tip the Alsatian this time, eh?
