Fuckin 'A. Thanks very much cheggers. Good to know what´s going on, hopefully that will mean more tour dates early next year. I don´t say this lightly, but the last time I saw explosions was nigh on a perfect concert experience. One of the best I´ve experienced. Beautiful. Stunning, wonderful sound, atmosphere and performance, not to mention the songs.
(Seen them 3 times mind)

hopefully that will mean more tour dates early next year. there's a european tour already scheduled for late Feb/early March, although they've only announced the London and Brussels dates so far.

Sorry to be the pedant, Tracy, but this will be album number 4.
The others: "How Strange, Innocence" (2000, re-issued 2005) - perhaps this is the one you haven't heard? "Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever" (2001) "The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place" (2003).
There's an EP, as well, apparently called "The Rescue", released last year as part of the Travels in Constants series, but it sold out on mail order subscription. I guess some here on this forum would know more about it.

Sorry to be the pedant, Tracy, but this will be album number 4. No need to apologise, it's what mods gets paid for ;D I have heard of this record, but I had forgotten about it and I have never heard it. Its not available anymore is it?

Yeah, How Strange, Innocence" can be found in many shops, but "The Rescue" sold out long ago. The band now have the mp3s on their website. I'd highly recommend The Rescue, a really great collection of songs they assembled for that - 8 songs, 8 days.

A new DO MAKE SAY THINK album (their 5th) is on its way early next year, too. Title: "You, You're A History In Rust"

There's an EP, as well, apparently called "The Rescue", released last year as part of the Travels in Constants series. As far as any EITS record is rubbish, 'How Strange Innocence' is it - not a patch on any of the others. Unlike 'The Rescue', which is well worth hearing. That 'Friday Night Lights' OST has some decent tracks too.

how strange innocence isn't bad. there are some good tracks on it.
there's a handful of euro dates for late feb/early march. it's not the 'full' tour yet. they're supposed to start touring in north america later in march / in april or something. then elsewhere in the world (if i remember correctly).
i have tickets to the two shows in NYC in feb. you'll likely be able to still buy copies of 'the rescue' when they go to europe. 'sold out' = the subscription for TIC is not available any longer and it was never going to be available in stores, but the band still has/had copies of them. they were selling them in NYC in september at the TRL 10th anniversary show.
i've heard 3 new songs.. i'm assuming at least some of them will be on the next record.

New tour dates are beginning to appear - I spotted one for Koln in Feb next year also on kartenhaus.de, the German ticketswiper. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be away the entire two week or so spell explosions currently have scheduled for their initial European tour, which is a bit of a disapointment as it was something I was looking forward too, but it's not everyday you meet up with some good friends who want to make a roadtrip to Morocco.

anyone else heard the album yet? I'm liking. I think this year is going to be pretty amazing - the eits, field music and malcolm middleton records are a great start.

i felt like this new eits clearly shows a lack of inspiration from them. there's nothing remotly new in there, just the same old sounds, the same old constructions. i like them but i see this one as the "lazy album". that being said i think "the earth is not a cold dead place" which i found very good has aged very badly to my ears. but on the other hand, the new do make say think album is amazing !

i felt like this new eits clearly shows a lack of inspiration from them. there's nothing remotly new in there, just the same old sounds hmmm. i don't recall hearing keys so prominently on an EITS record before? And they've nailed a way heavier drum sound this time too. The last track in particular is sublime. I'll take the diametric view and say that this could well be my favourite EITS record.

I'm looking forward to the new EITS album, and have tix to the Koko date in London. It'll also be the first time I've seen them live, which I can't wait for. I've read that they're amazingly loud (not a problem for me!) live. Is that Mogwai loud, or louder??
I think the new album also has a 2 CD version. HMV & Amazon.co.uk have it listed (where mine's on order from) but has the second disc listing the same as the first. Remixes?? The TRL and Explosion stores don't make mention of it, but I'm sure it was mentioned in a TRL newsletter not so long ago. Just have to wait and see what amazon sends!!

Yeah its remixes on cd 2 including one by Adem. Live they are very loud your ears will be buzzing after the gig. When I saw them they didnt speak a wordto the crowd all night. They were excellent though

i like the album. how much, i don't know. i'm not sure if people should really expect them to do drastically different stuff, though. i'm catching a bunch of the shows on the upcoming tour (including the 2 NYC shows in 2 weeks). looking forward to that.
they did add some keyboard in this album. other than this album, there was only some on the rescue. that was all.

I don't mind a bit of post-gig buzzing ear as long as the band are loud for the right reasons, not just for the sake of cranking it up to 11 Anything louder than Kid 606 at Mogwai's RAH gig and I'll be staggering for the exit! Thanks for clearing up the 2nd disc mystery. Just got another TRL mail through which also confirms what I thought I'd read before. I only got into EITS sometime last year via 'The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place', which for me is their best album. Not given the other two much of a play since picking them up, but the progression is clear from 'How Strange, Innocence'. I've only heard the MP3 on the TRL site from the new album and liked it a lot, although it seemed to cover similar ground to 'TEINACDP'...but I've no complaints about that!

to my ears, mogwai aren't really loud anymore. of course that could be because my hearing is already damaged. but post-2002 mogwai i haven't felt like i needed earplugs at all.

I generally agree with autorock's sentiments...EITS consistently underwhelm me...but the new Do Make Say Think is indeed fantastic!
DMST are certainly a band that know the meaning of progression, kind of like our beloved 'Gwai.

Went to the Bristol show the other night. Was alright, but a very route one post rock (yes yes I know) show. They still sound like a poor mans Mogwai to me (yes yes I know - completely different etc). Bonus marks for having good merch. 6/10.
